Hey guys, I just installed my new Termi exhaust and ECU.  I took off the gas tank, installed everything and put the tank back on. The bike powers on but it will not show that the bike is in neutral and will not start.  Does anyone have any suggest. about what may be wrong?? Thanks

This one sounds like it out in left, but... is the bike in neutral? You could have possibly forgotten one connection under the tank, unplug and resit the ECU connection.

Just coz I've done this too.... you didnt by any chance accidently flick the kill switch while you were messing around....? Never hurts to check the bleeding obvious first....  ;)  but...

I'm hoping you disconnected the battery terminals prior to pulling the ECU connector?  Seems to me like you gotta retrace your steps, go back over everything coz clearly there's something you missed....  Does the display scroll the "696/796/1100 racing" message when you flick the key?

Do you have a bike with ABS??  If so.... is you new ECU the ABS iteration?

What happens when you revert to the stock ECU?

Good luck, let us know how you go....

Really?
It's the big make the beast with two backsing red switch that shuts your bike off!  [evil]

sorry i new to bikes,  im guessing its the red swith on the throttle side, and yes i made sure it was turned on before i tried to start.

DucNaked

What happens when you turn it on? Does anything work?
Is it in gear? What bike do you have?
Try sitting on it put the kickstand up, pull in the clutch and try to start it.

I'm guessing you got this: http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=37314.0

1) Is the system the correct year for YOUR bike? (02 sensor)
2) Was the ECU married to the other bike? (immobilizer)
3) Did you marry ECU to your bike? (immobilizer)
4) Is the ECU connected properly?
5) Is the immobilizer light on?
6) Why did you take the tank off?

If you want us to help you, you gotta throw us a make the beast with two backsing bone here...you give almost no information at all...not even the bike model or year.

On my bike the ECU has a separate ground wire.  It's not on the ECU but rather the ECU socket and I think you have to disconnect it when you remove the cover to access the ECU.  Make sure you have reattached that wire.
And on my bike there is no such wire.  Not in anyway saying this advice is wrong... but we really need to know WHAT BIKE... Marelli or Siemens ECU??  If its a Marelli then I have no idea and you should listen to DarkStaR or Carbon 14.... If its Siemens then maybe I can help and you'd need to disregard everything DarkStaR just said.  People wanna help but we need to know......

What bike jerryj20, what bloody bike??

Sorry guys, im super new to bikes...  Its a 05 S2R 800 Dark.  Yes its the correct exhaust bc I bought it from a guy with the exact same bike.  yes the ground wire is connected.  As far as marrying it to my bike, i have no idea what that means or how to do it.  I took the tank off bc i just bought the bike and wanted to clean it up real good.  Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more info,  and also it is a Mag. ECU....   It just seems wierd to me that the green N light is not comming on and the bike is in Neutral....

Speeddog

What happens when you turn the key on?

Do the gauges sweep?
Do all of the 'idiot' lights come on for a few seconds?
Does the headlight come on?
Can you hear the fuel pump run for a second or so?

Yes to all of the above,  everything comes on.  When the bike is in Neutral the Green N does not show up and when i try to fire up the bike, NOTHING,  doesnt even try to turn over.... Guess its time to take it to the dealership,,

Speeddog

Does the yellow 'check engine' light stay lit?

Was that a brand new ECU?
Or was it a used unit?

Have you checked the fuses?

Yup checked fuses and all are good,  yellow light does not stay on, and the ECU is used,  not new,

Speeddog

Go back to the stock ECU to troubleshoot the issue.

I'm 99% sure you're SOL on that DP ECU, as it's most likely been 'married' to the gauges on the last bike it was on.
You may be able to get it reflashed to remove the immobilizer function.
