Xenon is a gas and running an electric arc through it excites the atoms and causes it to produce light. Atleast tahts how i think it works. Those look like they are litterally blue halogen light bulbs. Plus it would be a rip off since you only need one H4. I wouldnt bother with it.

I purchased something like this. I got them because they are brighter than stock and I often take back roads home. That being said they nothing more than normal bulbs with blue on the glass. True HID is on my shortlist.

True HID set-ups can be had for as little as $85. That's all I spent and the difference is night and day (pun fully intended). Blue bulbs won't help you see any better, no matter what they claim.

I'd go with either HID's or Sylvania Silverstar's...

My biggest question is, what is the quality of the Ballast for those cheapie $85? Because ive been dying to pull the trigger on a set of 2 Bixenon ballasts+bublbs+ wire harness. ( i have duals ). The cheap ebay ones can be had for as little as 125 bucks.

Search on DML for the HID stuff from hondatech. I got mine for $95 I think with a slim ballast and plugs to just plug'n'play with the H4 setup. Cheap and it has worked well so far. I've had it for about 4 months now. Awesome badass light output.

imo never buy bulbs that have a blue coating, the coating accually cuts down on the available light output and its only for looks. hid look is just that, a look, not the performance. and you have to be careful with putting hid into a halogen housing because you will cause glare for oncoming drivers and is illegal in most states.

Agree with others in the thread that true HID is the best option for clarity and brightness while riding at nite.
On a related note, for those that have HID & ballasts, does your lamp ever "not turn on" during at startup? I've found that I need to flick the high beam on and off after starting the engine to get the lamp to fire. I think this is somehow related to a relay, but not quite sure...I have the one from the bspec guys that I found through the Honda forums.

thats usually the sign of a dying ballast or a cheap one that is unable to generate the right voltage to start the light. Again, cheap bixenons can be had for under $60 per bulb+ballast. THe question becomes whats the quality of those chinese ballasts?

PIAA Xtreme White Plus Bulb- H4 Single Pack Part #PIAA-15214 is what I run and I love it. I got it off eBay, if you look on the TOB there was a website for bulbs from Europe. Supposedly they have ones that last longer then ones we can get in the states.

I'd go with either HID's or Sylvania Silverstar's...
I have a Silverstar and I like the additional output.

A few manufacturers make make conventional bubs with xenon vs the usual inert gas they use. I call these bulbs HID-lite (no pun intended) and they do give a slight boost to the light (but not much)
Not really worth it, IMHO.
So +1 on the Silverstars if you're looking to save money (I use one and it's great).
