A bit startling, for sure, and makes mounting them a bit more of a problem.

Can you Zip-tie them to the frame?  Maybe it can soak up some of the heat.  My bike flashes fine with only resistors for the rear set.

I have em stuffed up in the tail section along with the rest of the mass of taillight wiring.....  but I'm slightly concerned about their potential (or imaginary?) capacity to fry neighbouring wiring...

Go on ebay and look up the LED flasher relay.  I provided a link below.  I put this on my Honda CB and it worked like a charm.  You don't hot resistors and wires all over the place with this relay.  Hopefully it will work for our bikes.

I've wrapped them in fiberglass and safety-wired 'em to the frame, or to an aluminum plate that's bolted down.

I wouldn't leave 'em alone with wiring and plastic panels.

See? It was my conscience that made me post in the first place.  I knew I couldnt leave em.....  Just needed soembody to remind me not to be lazy.

Soooo... I took your advice and wrapped em and wire-tied em onto the aluminium turn signal support brackets under the seat tray.  So if my arse combusts now.... its your fault  ;)

you've heard of heated grips, now we might hear about a heated seat.
Or is that a heated riding leathers.

it's not necessary to even have a resistor unless the blinking bothers you.

Yeah.  And it's not necessary to have turn-signals unless the no blinking bothers you.

It's not necessary to have lights at all unless you want to see and be seen in the dark.  The list of "not necessary" is a long one.

I like having turn signals.  And I like them to flash at the correct rate.  So I need resistors.  Hot ones.

So when the girls say you've got a hot ass, it'll finally be true.  ;D

The correct rate is between 60 and 120 Hz...is the fast rate faster than 120 Hz? If not it's just preference.

If I mount resisters inside the bars out by the grips, do I get heated grips for free?

[roll] Yeah, yeah.... whatever you say.  This thread was not intended to be a debate on "how fast shall I flash?".  I like my indicators to flash at the stock rate, the same rate that the stock indicators flash at.  In order to achieve that... I need.... resistors  :)  Hot little make the beast with two backsing resistors.  [bang] [laugh].

But you are indeed entirely correct when you state the bleeding obvious: Resistors are not needed if you dont mind the increased (from stock) flash rate  [thumbsup].  Thanks.

Hey Unge

+1 to what Speedknot suggested. I was in Supercheap Autos at Knox City yesterday and saw a flasher relay for "Motorcycles with LED indicators". I think the unit makes external resistors redundant. It would certainly be tidy.
