I might prefer the TC to the dry clutch. There are already 2 other threads about the Evo.

I wonder if the placement of the exhaust system back behind the right footpeg now means that those of us with large shoe sizes now can't comfortably ride the bike once again, like the S2R1000.
That was one of the main things I liked about the switch from the S2R1000 to the 696/1100.

No more dry clutch
"
The Monster 1100EVO features a new APTC wet clutch which ensures quiet operation and long life. In addition, the progressive self-servo mechanism reduces the lever effort at the handlebar and makes the Monster even more practical in traffic. The Monster 1100EVO APTC wet clutch works with a race-like ‘slipper’ system which reduces the destabilizing effect of the rear-end under aggressive down-shifting, and compared with other wet clutch used so far by Ducati, features an additional cush-drive damper mechanism which smoothes the repeated transition from drive to over-run during stop-start traffic.
"
And about a 1100EVO SP version with Forged wheels, Öhlins and Brembo M4?
Although non-traditional for Ducati purists, I like the idea of the wet clutch with a slipper. I am assuming this may make the jump between the 696 and the 1100 easier.

Their excuse is easier in traffic?
Just like red frames, you should always have a dry clutch option for everything but the multi of course

So is the EVO the one and only M1100 model for 2011?
The wheels are seriously nice. And the rear footpeg hangers are a massive improvement too. I'm not loving the Diavelesque exhaust though... hate those ugly pipe joins and ... and whats that... the in-line flappergate before the cans?... Its a pity to hide the beauty of that rear wheel and SSSA behind those bulky cans. Standard ABS and traction control is nice, but lack of a dry clutch me no like at all. Marzocchi front end could be good. Sachs rear definitely not so good. But another 5hp straight out of the box is a nice boost.
My early impression? Some you win and some you lose.

The death of the dry clutch.
Just another mod.
All MotoGP bikes are dry clutch. All manufactures. AFAIK

well since this is a largecase motor, the 848 dry clutch conversion should fit easily.

I would wait until someone actually goes through the process and let's us know how it goes.

+1 ABS and TC make it enough of a win. You add new rearsets, similar to the S*R, then it's more of a win. Break even with the exhaust, since it's ugly as sin but it moves it away from your butt so that you can ride during the summer. Losing the dry clutch is super painful. I'm up in the air about losing the S model. It was priced in the Streetfighter range when adding the Ohlins. Lets face it, 98% of us would not use our bikes to the point where the Ohlins made that much more of a difference. If you're using your bike to that limit, then you should be taking it to the track.

That is a good looking bike except the exhaust but I bet if we go back when the latest generation monster came out everyone was saying the same thing about the exhaust coming out the back. Everything else is superior on the bike and is well appreciated (DTC, ABS, and etc). I can see why some people would be upset with the wet clutch but for most the wet clutch will be a good thing. Besides the bling of open air, a wet clutch is a better option for a day to day rider on this style of bike, makes it a little more of a jack of all trades. I can still see the purists view though because it is a Ducati.

2010 M1100 ABS with the sport100 tank kit or black on black. Ducati - Termignoni carbon fiber exhaust, ECU, High Efficiency air filter, bitubo steering stabilizer, Oberon levers, AEM quick exchange rear, and tons of other tweaks.
Chicks dig me because I rarely wear underwear and when I do, it’s usually something unusual!

Wow - I'm really liking this bike. Who know that a simple exhuast change would transform the bike. I'm not sure if I like more now 'cause it reminds me of my current 2007 S4RS but this pictures look great!

I've only had my 696 for a few months, but I want that 1100 Evo with no hesitation.
The ABS + TC is a huge thing for me, love the exhaust (the location, not necessarily looks but I'm ok with the looks), the wheels, the rear pegs, the overall look of it.
And honestly...I'm glad it's a wet clutch too. Don't hate me, it's just I love the feel of my 696 and don't want that to change on the bigger bike.
Takes my 696 which I already LOVE and makes it....perfect!
