Does the motor constantly oil the swingarm pivot?

I have oil on the swing arm coming from that area.

No.  That was an old Super Sport trick I'm sure the EPA would frown upon today.  Clean, ride, inspect.  If that doesn't work. clean, spray with aerosol powder, ride, inspect.  The oil trail in the powder will lead you to the leak.  Remember, oil travels when you ride.  The oil may not be coming from the rear of the engine.

ok, well that eliminates that possibility.

what's wierd is that i cannot see any oil from any other location except on the swingarm behind the rearset on the left side

i'm not low on clutch fluid so thinking it can't be the slave cylinder.

no pics. not chain oil. use teflon clear.

has consistency of motoroil, maybe dirty clutch fluid (which like I said isn't low)

Raux, check your cam inspection cover on your verticle cylinder. I've been dealing with a small leak on mine and your symptoms sound similar (small drops of oil on the top of the swing arm). Use a bright flash light and look for a shiny reflection of oil near the cover or just use powder like another board member mentioned. If that's it you will need new o rings. I changed mine out but no luck, now i'm thinking gaskets to fix the problem. Hope this helps brother......

Two 696's around here just had leakage coming from the vertical valve inspection covers, but it was pretty obvious when following the oil upstream to the source.  I'm not sure how it would get down there without you seeing a clear oil path.
