What is the red line on ' 05 M620? When does the rev limiter kick in? Are they the same? It's all stock by the way.

I think the rev limiter should kick in around 9K.

Why don't you wind it up and let us know? [evil] ;D

Don't be afraid... ;)

How high have you revved the 620?

The small bore Ducs respond well to revs.

Keep twisting! [evil]

just make sure there's not a brick wall in front of you or a car steaming up behind you at 150 mph. I hit the z-z-z-z-zone at about 9k as dp said.

I actually read the manual (crazy, huh?). It said 7000 should not be exceeded. I know that's not right. Why don't they just put a 'red line' onn the tach? Novel idea.

Because a redline infers disaster if you cross the line.

You can't hurt your 620 by revving. The crank is plenty strong enough to handle anything you can dish out and the Desmo valve system eliminates valve float.

A 620 doesn't even come alive until 6K so a 7K limit is ridiculous.

Wind that little girl up tight and have fun...you'll know when you hit the limiter.

I looked at my soft copy of the '05 620 OM, and indeed it does not have the max rpm.
The 7000 rpm limit is for the last part of the break-in.
Going back to the '03 manual will net you an official max rpm of 10k.
Manual states peak power rpm is 9500.

In that era, Ducati used the same instrument cluster across at least 3 different displacement Monsters, so a 'red line' on the tach wasn't appropriate.

You can apply your own red line if you so desire, I think the '05 gauges will allow you to remove the bezels.
