I say we take it out this coming Sunday...rip up to visit SacDuc in SB!!
Cool. Come on up. There is an outside chance I will have the SS put back together by the time you get here. Maybe we can go scrub in my new shoes on a jaunt up the 154.

Or ..... your abilities
Yeah, that's a pretty accurate statement too!
I know I've got decent skills, put this bike will definitely force me to up my game. For the first few weeks, I'll be riding her pretty easy, just getting a feel for how she handles, clutch engagement, brakes, how she handles, etc...
As Sac Duc pointed out to me, I've got premature apex-ation.
It's sensitive and requires a more gentle touch when laying her over in a corner.
I've got to get used to braking and turning later than I did on the Monster.
That being said, she's VERY easy to ride, pulls strong from down low, cruises with ease, 75-80 in 3rd gear all the way to work. I clicked 4th and even though the revs were down around 4,000rpm she chugged along with no complaints.
As far as ergos go, she almost feels more upright than my Monster did. When I put clipons onto the monster, they were below the tank and my chest rested easily. I feel like I'm higher above the 999's tank and further forward. Still very comfortable.
Well, I'm geared up and headed home from work. I LOVE the sound this thing makes in the parking structure at work!!! Car alarms don't like it too much, though!
I'm off, catch you all in a bit... [moto]

999
Well I haven't seen it yet
If you do come up for a visit/ride.... I will be happily kick starting my bike and giggling in the drive way!
My brother and my 5 year nephew came over today to see my new bike and of course I had to kick start her. My nephew and I quote said " she sounds like a robber"
of course I got to tell him she is old school, as old as his aunt
Then he got distracted because he wanted to show my brother Carl's SS (he got to sit on last time!) I sent both his parents a picture of him on my bike today!

[bacon]Junkie,
It seems you have some homework to do with sagging suspensions, dialing rear height, figuring out best tire presure combinations for street/track, figuring braking points and finger presures and figuring out that issue with the bike being stuck in 4th gear ...
Really, at times, I feel my 'baby' M620 is more than I can handle; no track days here, no formal bike riding school, so, I do feel your approach is the best ... slow & easy ... even though you made it rough with Rosie ... Helga's different ... [moto]

Ducati is the pretty girl that can't walk in heels without stumbling. I still love her.

The only tranny that may have suffered damage is the clutch, first gear, and maybe reverse in my pickup. Apparently, Carl's philosophy is, "If this piece of shit won't go into gear the first time, just push harder on the shift lever until it does!".

For the record, I named the bike Sogne di Mezzanotte (Midnight Dream in Italian), or "Sonia" for short...
After I making a joke about riding it slow, and me saying she's a 999, so nein! Nein!! NEIN!!! Carl thought it would be hilarious to try and convince the entire DMF that her name was "Helga"
It's actually quite funny that you called my bike that...
Oh, and Carl... You suck!

I'm glad you like the ergos of the 999. I did the Ferracci bars and Zero Gravity Double Bubble upgrade before the crushed neck vertebrae "thing" and really liked it. I have to have it now. Of course Heli-bars makes a nice set of taller bars too. Not much else to recommend other than watching the miles tick over on the odometer. I have stuck with the stock Michelin Pilot Powers and have been very happy. I don't do track days but I am sure they would handle it very nicely. Good street tire.
Hope she treats you well and you do the same for her! [moto]

Just ordered some parts for the CB.
Cafe Style Seat
New Cans
Clubman Bars
Pod Filters
Mirrors
Cables
Now I gotta find tires and grips and get oil, gaskets and assorted other bits. Gonna take me a few weeks to get her in shape but she will fit the wifey perfectly when I am done. Then I can start fabbing the aluminum bits that she wants. This is gonna be a fun bike.
sac
/was I supposed to push in the clutch when going from reverse to first?

Fastwin- Thanks for the info. I'm leaving her as is for the most part for now.
She's already got a Termi slip-on, DP Performance mirrors, integrated turn signals, Rizoma open clutch cover, and some other stuff.
It's got a Pilot Power on the rear, and I put a new, stickier Power Pure on the front. I really like the way the Pure feels and wears on the front... [moto]
