That was the one I was asking Santa about. ;D
I plan to list the Federal Gov't. as a dependent on my next 1040 tax filing!

I have flying honey badgers and I'm not afraid to use them!

The fact that flame throwers exist is proof that someone somewhere said "I'd sure like to set those people over there on fire but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

CONFIDENCE: the feeling you have right before you understand the situation.

definitely cool, but not that cool[/i

60hp and 141 mph, wow!  I guess a lack of mirrors and ~100lbs goes a long way in terms of top speed

2010 KTM 990 SM-T

Drunken Monkey

I don't so much want this bike (well not at more than $75K) as someone to build another (mass produced) bike of this ilk.

WHY WHY WHY doesn't some manufacturer build another sport single like this?  [bang]
I own several motorcycles. I have owned lots of motorcycles. And have bolted and/or modified lots of crap to said motorcycles...

because there's only a handful of people in america (largest motorcycle market) that'll buy one (at the price it'd end up costing).

iirc, the supermono was $30k new in 1993 (that's $45k in 2010 money).

why is a supermono so desirable?

and if it was... i think KTM would be the company to make it..

fastwin

If Honda's new CBR250 is a single 250cc four stroke then I could see them making a larger displacement Supermono replica type bike. And being a manufacturing giant the cost could be kept down. They could snatch up a couple of the 450cc MX bikes that have been turned into road racers and use them as test mules for a street version. [thumbsup] Or screw it, just let KTM do it or Aprilla. ;D

Because it is.

Because it's pretty light weight and goes like a scalded cat

because there aren't too many of them around

It's just one of those icon bikes like the 916

but better ;D

A quick look at that page shows the pictures in the ebay listing are not of the actual bike being sold.

How does a person reach a point in life where they own a motorcycle this valuable without knowing the difference between the words "correspondents" and "correspondence"?

How do you know that it's not the bike in the auction that's shown on the wiki page?

I mean, there were only 67 of these things made and this is one of the more famous and better documented of them.

It's cool and all...but like someone on duc.ms said:

If Ducati had produced these for the masses it would be a forgotten poor mans' 65hp SS.
