'07 S4Rs Speedometer problem

I had a crash with my S4Rs on 4/5 and broke 4 ribs , punctured my right lung and did some other nasty stuff to myself. My bike seemed to have come through the crash with no more than alot of mud and grass underneath it and a bent cluth lever . I have not ridden the bike since the crash. I have had it outside a couple of time ,once to run it up to 200 degrees but otherwise it's on a battery tender. Today I felt well enough to get it out and clean and lube the chain but I noticed the speedometer was resting at 40 mph. I turned the bike to the on position but nothing happen to the speedometer. I then started the bike for just a few seconds and then shut it off and still it is resting on 40 mph. Anyone have an idea why it is like this ?

Did the needles sweep?

Just the Tach needle.

All other electrical devices work?

A fuse may have come loose when you binned it.

Also, check the connector on the back of the gauges.

As far as I know all electrics work but I haven't done a full run through. I'll check for a loose fuse.........What should I be looking for as far as the gauge connector ?

Try disconnecting the harness at the cluster, and re-plug.

Did the immobilizer light blink after you shut it down?

Hey D E. I am wondering if the Needle just didnt pop off of the Pin ?

My tach did the same thing a few weeks ago after chopping the throttle in the middle of a wheelie. Man,,,, those are harsh.

It wasnt that hard to remove the tach & face plate & push the needle back on the pin.

Did the immobilizer light blink after you shut it down?

Can't say for sure about the immobilizer light.I'm not sure I know what you mean by immobilizer light..maybe a light that I know by another name?

It's the yellow light that blinks after you shut off the bike.

It's usually between the 2 gauges, near the buttons.

The light that blinks every few seconds while the bike is on the battery tender ?  When you said shut it down in your earlier post did you mean after the bike had been running or after I turned it to on then off ...or does it matter which ?

I just went and checked the immobolizer light and it's blinking while on the battery tender. I took it off the battery tender and turned it to the on position and then turned it off and it started to blink right away.

Normal operation will have it blink for 24 hours  after "key-off", then stops to save battery life. The immobilizer is still active, just the light stops flashing...

UPDATE: Today in the sunlight I checked out some things w/ the bike .  1) I checked out the fuses and they were all tight and none blown. 2) I checked the speedometer and the needle was on the pin.  3) I checked out the gauge cluster plug and it was was secure to the back of the gauges . 4)  I checked out the Immobilizer light . It was still blinking when I took it off the battery tender. I ran the bike and when I shut it off the light blinked immediately like it should.  So the needle is still  pointing at 40 mph , so I guess I'm back to square one.?

Just to confirm:

Does the tach needle work?

If it does, check the speedo pick-up & wire on the swing arm. 

Hint:  There's only one wire on the swingarm.
