Making steady progress. My lathe is in town and will be on site on Tuesday. Yesterday I drove to Cleveland to pick up an LNS Hydrobar I scored on eBay for like 95% off a new one
It will take a whole 12' bar of material up to 2.5" in diameter and feed it into the lathe.

I think I'll need to take a "vacation" for a week at some point to come out, be an unpaid intern and make some fun stuff with you.

Do you need a Pratt and Whitney Super Micrometer? All hundred some lbs of it are sitting on my bench collecting dust. I haven't had to measure to the 0.00001 lately.

Mazak day today
The flat bed it came in on is a tilt deck (how the got the fork lift off.)
The little fork lift you see inside the building can pick up 12,000 pounds
My machine was 11,330.
Some incorrect information given to me lead to the destruction of my doorway to fit the machine through it
The riggers had to wait around, on the clock, for that to happen. Actually, the helped a little so it was a fairly easy project.
They set it on these big "skates" and just pushed it into place slowly.
They were there 3 hours and it cost me $1700. . .

actually.. .
we blew up the stereo
we (my electrician friends) moved a few breakers and all the sudden some things went pop. Radio was one of the casualties.
Turns out someone wired one leg in the box with 220 instead of 110. And every third breaker had 220 rockin through it
neither of those guys could figure out why someone would wire up a box like that.

Once I visited a machine shop in Midland, Texas and the guy had the guards off the Mazak and was wearing boots and a raincoat, standing in the ways spraying a coolant hose on the part as it was being turned. Amazing!
