We have been to UK twice...and the missus loves it.
she would rather go there than Italy.

first time we went  (May) we went to London, Salisbury (stonehenge), Bath, and Edinburgh
second time we went in Oct with friends to London, Salisbury, York, Scarsbourough

Tons to see esp in London, plan 2-3 days there.
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese is one of my Happy Places.....

Cask Ales are fantastic (dont be afraid of 'bitter')
food is fine...we mostly ate in pubs. (indian and chinese food is good in london)
fish-n-chips, meat pies=good
gammon ham, full-english, and 'bacon'= not so much

cell phone and GPS were handy
public transit is excellent

I've got a helmet for you too-

bought it for the missus this week, S is too big...shes an XS

have fun

London is a great city - easy to get around, folks are friendly, and the food defies the stereotypes.  I like the Imperial War Museum, Tower of London, and British Museum.  If I only had three days to spend, I would spend a day at each, maybe trying to fit in the Tate British too.  The Tate Modern is too big, cold, and warehouselike - take it from a former art student, spend no more than a couple hours there. Check out Belgo for really good food and beer.

+1 for Bath for a day trip, and Edinburgh for a multi-day trip.

Book very soon if you have not already.  Learn how to incorporate the words "massive", "brilliant", and "cheers" into every sentence, and you will be speaking British English.  If you drive, remember that they don't speak middle finger.  Have a massively brilliant time.    [drink]

I really liked the Churchill Museum and the London Transport Museum

And the Borough Market before or after seeing the London Bridge.

I find it disturbing that you're imagining me in a sauna, never mind the teletubbie aspect of it

Another vote for Bath.

Side note...don't follow a "frenchie" speeding on a freeway.

and in cheddar, clotted cream on an ice cream cone after hiking on the cliffs.   never saw clotted cream spread on ice cream anywhere else.

Edinburgh Edinburgh Edinburgh. Just cause it's in Scotland. But in August they have Tattoo (big event of different performers from around the world including US military bands) at the castle in Edinburgh. Also, on the royal mile theres two places where you can get anything fried from Mars bars to hamburgers. They also have the Closes along the mile, they do a tour through the more open one- I think Mary Kings Close which is supposed to be haunted.

In England it's kind of cool to do a Jack the Ripper tour with on of the Beef Eaters if you guys are into that kind of thing.

That's a real place?  I just read a piece of fiction (The Fleet Street Murders by Charles Finch) that mentioned it a couple of times, but I thought the place was, well, also a piece of fiction!  I have much to learn.

Yes, it is a real place.  "Rebuilt in 1692" (might have the year wrong, but close to that.  Been there for a while.)

Some Billy Shakes guy used to go there write a lot.

Bath is worth the trip.  [thumbsup]  The Pile of Rocks, only because it is sort of on the way to Bath.

All the normal touristy stuff is worth it in London - The British Museum, Westi Abby, Buckingham & the changing of the guard (as long as you see it on a non-rainy day), St. Pauls Cathedral, The Tower, Hyde Park...

The London Dungeon museum

Brighton to Dover & The white cliffs.

Hampton Court

Windsor Castle

Oxford

The Holland & Holland factory (right across the street from Paddington Station), even if you are not into stupidly expensive guns, just to see the craftmanship that still goes into them.

The list goes on...
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.
