Thanks for asking! It's not finished yet, waiting on my helper for the 900ss engine swap. Engine is just sitting on a workbench getting fawned over by me every day. I can't wait.
Progress pics are fun to look at too. Just sayin...

Here's how my engine looked when I bought it:
Then I degreased, stripped, and repainted the case, heads, and jugs:
wish I had better pics, it still wasn't finished when I took those, and I can't get a good shot where it's sitting currently amidst a mess of rags and tools. But it looks awesome, the case is silver, and the side covers, heads, and jugs are all gloss black.
This is my bike right now...haven't installed the tail light or the engine obviously. The result of my 4.5-5.5" wheel swap and Michelin Road 3's;
waiting on the new engine..trick clutch cover/plate..tail light..The paint is an automotive paint called SEM "Hot Rod Flatz" like I said it's not done. The headlight ring and ears will be black also.

Here now, this is way better...got her out in the sunlight today.
and still relevent to the thread since I'm showing off my new CTMOTO clutch cover. I'm very proud of this engine considering how NASTY it was.

Shiny shiny shiny! Been waiting a couple weeks but that's all right! Gonna slap this puppy on and setup an appointment with Dave Moss to work over the front end.
Set the sag and then back off the damping one click. Worked on mine. Maybe your forks will even work?
Mine did, but our forks are not identical.

Rode the beast yesterday. I ended up doing exactly what you just said. Holy smokes whoever does not have an Ohlins on their bike is missing out! I have been riding 30 years and this is the first aftermarket shockI have purchased. Rode stock shocks for 60,000 on three different bikes. All the while thinking it was fine. That was prior to buying the Ohlins. I will never again buy a bike that does not come with an Ohlins shock or one can't be fitted again. The difference is astounding.

The DU-737 is good value. There are a lot of "experts" out there and aftermarket is frequently worse unless a brand-specific guru developed it. I'm spoiled and know how it ought to work. I've got 50 years under my belt, so this isn't my first rodeo.
When I rode the demo, I picked the bike apart with the dealer when I got back. He's a retired AMA champion on Ducatis and an Ohlins specialist. Basically I told him that the fork was working so-so but the back end wasn't doing much other than not bottoming. I had this shock fitted prior to delivery. My dealer was prepared to rip into my Marzocchi fork after setting up the back end for himself. When he rode the bike though, he said both ends were well-balanced and he just didn't see any need.
I agree. The bike has excellent manners and no quirks. I could use 2mm more sag as he weighs a hair more than I do, but not worth the trouble.
Since I've had fancy Ohlins too, I can tell you that they are nicer, and smoother, but..., not $1,200 smoother!
Besides, if you got it that plush in the rear, you'd want to match it up front. Then you'd be talking serious nosebleed $$$. Fine if you've got the scratch. I'm retired and no longer that nuts!
How do your forks work now? Better? Put the settings back to stock if you remember them. Let us know how that works. My 796 Marzocchis are not adjustable. No real complaints except that I'd like to try a better oil. I'm fairly sure that would make them smoother. Right now the factory fill is 7.5W Shell and I'd like to try 10W Spectro which is really a super smooth 8W and has given me great results in several BMW's and Ducatis. (I weigh 175+ plus gear.)

lol, I was out in the garage backing the pre-load off the front shocks as you typed your response! I have the tried and true zip tie telling me that since my rear end is not stuffing the front end into the tarmac by a "Fat American with a fat girlfriend on the back)" way too sprung rear shock; It may be possible that the front end I have whined about is fine.....
Still going to take it to Dave Moss ( :

Just ordered the instrument cover for my Monster so I can get rid of the little wind screen. And some clips ons, and some rearsets. The bike is almost done.

I've gotten parts from the factory in less than a week via DHL. Aftermarket is one thing, but since you are in Arlington, give Nathan a call at Duc Pond. A month I could see in August when Europe is closed, but not in May!

Just ordered an Evotec exhaust hanger from MP. Wanted the Ducati carbon hanger but it is unavailable for who knows how long. I pulled the left side passenger peg hanger and the right side looks odd with a single peg sitting there.
Still gonna get the DP carbon hanger when it is available.

Hey, just a heads up, PM me when you do get the carbon fiber hanger and I will buy the Evotech one from you. Hopefully at a "less than retail" price.
