I seriously dislike using any companies products that are a rip off of an original design.  When Americans complain about a lack of manufacturing jobs don't forget about how much money you saved on that pressure plate.  Walmart costs US taxpayers 3 Billion a year is food stamps, welfare and health care every year.  Yet who shops there?  The very people that no longer have good jobs.....  Yup you save a few bucks but at what actual price?

Buying knock offs is seriously short sighted.  Personally I would rather ride a dead stock Duc than mod it up with cheap knock-offs.  thats just me though I see the long term hurting that companies like PSR put on people.  Been there myself.  I once turned down a 200k order from a big box store because the required me to outsource it to China.  Better broke than a whore.

as long as I like it and it funtional and the price is right then I'll use it.  Don't matter who make them, dont get me wrong, I love Rizoma and all but it's just too expensive (yes i know Ducati not equal to cheap), but can't justify myself buying a $200+ pressure plate.

I could be wrong but it's not like the design is paten pending, they look similar (maybe 99%) but not the same.

After all you get what you pay for...name brand stuff, you get more than just the quality (and that debatable of worth it or not).

You realize you're riding a Ducati right?

So your point about supporting American companies seems kind of moot.

Maybe you need to read what he said? Nothing whatever to do with buying "American". But I'm PD sure Sky wouldn't be buying a Chinese L-Twin knock-off. Cool

Buy whatever you want from wherever you want. You're never gonna fight back by "voting with your wallet". Molotov cocktails on the other hand... waytogo

I read it. Although, I'm unclear as to how you support American manufacturing without buying american products?

Nothing whatever to do with "buying American". Everything to do with, "I seriously dislike using any companies products that are a rip off of an original design." Creative thinking and R&D aren't free.

Thanks for the support Curmudgeon.  You are correct I never said buy American.  I said don't buy from companies that knock off others designs.  If a Chinese company did the R&D to make a nice Duc bit I would happily buy from them if I liked the piece.  Don't get me wrong I would buy American in a second flat; if they did not rip someone else's design.

It is all about taking care of those that take care of us.  When you buy a knock off you are supporting thieves.  Thieves do not contribute to making nice parts for my bike.  Hence I will spend the extra cash to get an original part.  The other side is I can go without if I can't afford the shiny bit.  Face it, Ducs are sweet when stock.

Put on a knock off part and you are just a poser......................  Buy a Honda.

Grin

But don't forget, it was Siochiro's dumping in the '70's which nearly wiped out the whole European bike industry and Toyota (Lexus) in the 80's which nearly wiped out ALL the luxury European marques (my old biz) and the FTC never DID catch on to that financial machination. In those years it was the Japs who made all the knock-offs.

Had they won, we'd all be driving/riding appliances today. (Not that the Euro bike manufacturers didn't need a wake-up call..., but they didn't need to compete with bikes which were selling at half what it cost to make them either!)
