Upgraded the little S2R with a new chain (DID 525 XW black on gold) and 2 new sprockets (15 front and changed from 41 to 43 at the rear). Got myself the Ducati performance sprocket at the rear, feels like 2 kgs less (not that I notice while driving). Pretty pleased with this upgrade, especially while future changes don't require dismantling all at the rear.

At the shop I noticed somebody left a very sad engine, no idea why it dropped a valve but this can happen too...

Ducej,

Nice sprocket.  8)

By the way, did you feel the need to gear a bit lower? I have an 07 S2R 1000, but I want a bit taller gearing if anything. I tend to buzz through the gearbox with a 41 rear & 15 front. I was thinking of going down to a 39 on the rear when it comes chain & sprocket time. To me, the strength of the S2R 1000 motor is the strong torque curve from about 4,000 to 6,000 rpm, and I'm usually shifting up at about 5,500.

Just curious because I hear about many people who switch to a 14t front.

Thx Desert Dust.

The 14 teeth mod is an easy going modification for higher revs / lower top speed. I opted for the 15 t in front and 43 rear as this gives a little less strain on the chain, and less risk of the chain rubbing against the swingarm. In general, 2 teeth up at the rear equals more or less 1 tooth down in front. I prefer a little lower top speed for higher revs at low speed. The 800 (and I think also the 1000) doesn't feel very comfy with low revs, especially in heavy traffic driving. With the 43 I have less chain slapping and hacking, therefore smoother acceleration but yes little higher revs at high speed. I don't do track driving and not much of highway driving so for me this is fine. The good thing about the ducati performance sprocket is that it is easy and relatively cheap to change the rear ratio to a 44 or even 45 teeth setup.

To have it explained very clear how ratio's are related you can use this link: http://www.gearingcommander.com/

And also on this forum there is a post about gearing rations under: http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=64097.msg1182287#msg1182287

You can tell me Nooo to my face  ;D on Aug. 16 when the bike shows up in Indy  [beer].  Still keeping the steel racing pipes but they need to be welded and cut down a bit. Sending a note to StradaFab to see what he can do with'em.

Not sure how you can't like the QD though, look at that sexy ass rear wheel.

Im sure the reason he can dislike it is because it puts an ugly big box in front of the tire..... kinda clutters it up IMO.  Yes the tire/swingarm are VASTLY improved but its just adding a brick in front of it.  I mean you might as well just run udders and save yourself the cash!  Boom tubes look best in my eyes.... but I know the volume is killer.

I just ordered a Carbonvanni oil cooler shroud, Belt covers and a center tank strip!  It will not have a single piece of plastic left with-in another month!  Silly amount of money for those three pieces of bling......  But plastic just don't cut it!

I am hiring lol.  We need another crew member.  It does not pay well enough to buy bike parts though.  The industry standard for balloon crew is $50.00 a morning, I pay $75.00 however I don't think too many of us Duc owners would work that cheap  [laugh]
