I don't know if I can be at PJ's by 5:00, but I'll see what I can do. If nothing else, maybe I can meet you guys at GotG.

Although I'm not "sick of the crest" it sure as heck does still scare the crap out of me. I've been up it 3 times since it ate my old bike (and spit me back out) and I just can't get comfortable Up there. Bottom half is ok but that top half I just can't get through. I'm all slow and shakey and unstable as can be... And in typical Ducati fashion... My bike is really stable at high speeds. What indeed does one do? Oh well maybe after a few more rides up I'll get better with it. Or... Maybe I'll just stick to the track which I so desperately want to go back to! Dang slow economy.

Dont push yourself. If you get up there and dont feel good about, turn around...spend some time on the lower half and enjoy it. That is what riding is all about.

ok guys im having problems...
when i rode up with dusty and godec i had such a horrible run....nomally im really smooth and have some decent lines.... but for some reason i paniced and was doing maybe 30 at my best, ON THE CREST 30!! my pride was so hurt it was unbelievable to me...
well as much thinking and whatnot i have been doing i came to a couple of conclusions..
#1 i have been riding in town so much i forgot how to take a corner. I was thinking along the lines of target fixation
i dont know why im doing this, i know better..but i seem to catch myselkf doing that even turning on a street in town...looking at my front tire....ya i know i have a bigger bike and i feel myself locking up and ya
not good end results... this makes feel like horrible, talk about ur pride being shattered. like starting from the begining
#2 cause i have been more sober then ever ebefore....my typical day would consist of having 2 beers or pills in my system(consistantly), of course in my mind it helped me relax and not be so tense. ya silly thought but to me it makes sense to me! now i feel like i cant function to what i normally did....
#3 cause i have just plain forgot how to ride
which is silly but with my memory probably totally possible
i honestly dont know what to do but ride it out my system or something..or drink a beer and calm the nerves...
help
i mean THP has his thoughts...but he has never seen me ride before, and doesnt know where im coming from. i thought i was good and decent and held my own....but god damn..
its likes i lost my mojo

(Thinking) Hmmm maybe I should try a shot or two before I go up next time.. I try to stay away from the pills..
I've never ridden any less than 100% sober so I really wouldnt be able to make that comparison, but I can see how it would affect the confidence levels. I know what you mean about it killing all the flow and making you question everything about your riding. It sucks. I'm with DDGM, Stick with what you're comfortable with and then work your way back into the scary shite. Thats more or less how I'm gonna do it. Evil Evil Crest road.

Track time might help... but in the mean time, just take your time and go over the basics (looking through the turn, counter steering, weight shifting).
Maybe a little time in a big ole parking lot working on the turns too? or follow one of the good riders in the group for a while to get back into the groove of choosing a line.
hang in there!
