Showa Monster Front Forks
«

Hello, all.
When I joined the Monster Forum a couple of months ago, I happened to read a post where someone complained about the (mainly compression) damping on his S2R adjustable Showa fork.
About 2004 I started down he same route with my M900-2002, starting also with the RaceTech Gold valve.
The whole thing expanded from there over a couple of years, and together with a friend we finally "cracked" the problem.
We then wrote an article about the whole issue for the Swedish Ducati Club magazine, "Cucciolo", and I have made an update and translated it to english.
I haven´t got much experience with file hosting sites (starting right now), so I hope this download link will work for anyone interested in sharing my experiences:
Edit: Link deleted; see below.
I hope you will find this interesting.
Kind regards,
Torbjörn.

Well,
I tried downloading the file myself, it seems it will cost money to download which was not my intention. Anyone got a suggestion for a free-both-ways file hosting site?

I'd be interested in reading this.
I'm certainly a suspension novice.
I've just resprung and installed some S2R1K Adj Showas on my 620.
they are much more comfortable than stock Marzocci's but I can tell they could be worlds better.

Hello, all.
Here the link again, since it seemed to work after all (and for free....):
https://rapidshare.com/files/2070588556/Showa_blues_modifikationer_English_edit2_2011.pdf
Let me know if it works OK!
Kind regards,
Torbjörn.

Have you tried greenmonsters approach (waitingfor 5 minutes or so)? I suppose I would have to pay for an upgrade to allow rapid download ...

Perhaps this will help:
1. Click on the link:
https://rapidshare.com/files/2070588556/Showa_blues_modifikationer_English_edit2_2011.pdf
2. When the page loads, scroll all the way down to the bottom.
3. At the lower right corner, click on the grey box that says "FREE-DOWNLOAD".
4. A grey 'progress bar' will grow from the left, as it counts down from 5:00.
5. Revel in the irony of having to wait for 5 minutes to start a download from a website named RapidShare.
6. After the 5 minutes is up, the grey 'progress bar' will turn green, and the grey box on the right will turn green, and say "DOWNLOAD NOW".
7. Click on that green button, and it will download the PDF.

Torbjörn, thank you very much for publishing your research.
It's quite informative.

Thanks, Speeddog, for deciphering Rapidshare for us
. The irony of waiting occurred to me as well, even if I did not understand how it worked, I just waited ......
I hope the feature will be of help, any questions you might have I´ll try to answer as best as I can.

Success and i have now read the article and it confirms my suspicions about the S4 forks after messing with them for 2 years.
I think a set of decent aftermarket forks or a set of ebay Ohlins off an Apprillia (cheap) might be the way to go as buying valves and also having parts machined up is not possible in thailand .
if only a simple revalve would cure thes forks ,, but the rebound setup is really crummy too in the way Showa engineered it , i guess they are budget forks.

will Aprillia OHLINS forks fit a monster S4 , i am fed up trying to get the showas to work properly even after spending loads on springs valving etc i reckon a set of Ohlins will sort it but most on ebay and in breakers are off Aprillias they use same brakes ,discs etc so i think they will fit
the standard showas are a compromised cheap design with a very suspect rebound circuit which even with revalves will never be efficient later ducatis use a much better fork design from showa after 2005 .but they wont fit my bike .
