Hi guys, Last Saturday i bought a Monster 1100 Evo. This weekend I'm going to tail of the dragon and need to do the 600 miles service before i go. Called the place where i bought my bike and they are a week and a half behind. So i will have to do it myself. Tomorrow I'm going to Battleys to ask them what i need. The thing is, can you guys recommend what to buy before i go there? For example what oil to use or at least which one not to? How many quarts? (i don't know how many it takes) Oil filter probably they sell the original one. Is there anything else I need to buy?  To my understanding the things to do are:

Change oil and filter
Check other oil levels
Check chain
Check bolts and nuts

This will be the first time i work on a bike but i am pretty savvy when it comes to cars so it should be no problem.

Thank you and hope you can help me. [Dolph]

Get LT Synder's manual.  It makes valve checks very simple, and IIRC, the valves are on the 600 miles list.

Valves are at 7500 miles for the first check.

Your list is pretty much it... First service is more of a glorified oil change than anything else.

There is a pretty good video on YouTube on how to change the oil for a 2v engine... Only diff btwn duc's and other bikes is the extra oil screen step

IF you're going to Battleys, you must live in the DC metro. I pick up oil at Auto Zone. They carry the Mobil1 moto oils - usually at $8 ber bottle. Snag a few of the 10-40 and rock out. Should be abut 4 quarts - your owners manual will say.

Battleys should carry ducati filters. They are pretty good for OEM filters. K&N makes ones that fits Model #153, but they are harder to track down as places like the afore mentioned auto zone dont usually stock them on the shelves.

Other items to buy - crush washers for the drain plug and screen (if you removed it)

-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

You may need a 14mm allen wrench (from Sears) to remove and clean the oil screen.  Get an extra crush washer.

Check your air pressure and warm up your tires, enjoy the Tail.
