Can you calibrate the speedo on a 2001 M750 easily?

I have a 2001 m750 and noticed this weekend, after installing my gps, that the speedo shows about 8 mph fast at 70mph (says Im doing 78 when I'm only doing 70). It does rest at 0 when stopped though. Is there any easy way to fix this? I saw a few other threads on this topic, but seemed like they had the digital guages. Thanks!

Not really.  That discrepancy is pretty much the norm for the mechanical speedo

Is it possible to upgrade to a digital speedo then?

A good old-timey speedo repair shop* may be able to recalibrate yours.

*Not sure if any exist any more... where are you located? A local may be able to point you in the right direction.

My '99 reads a bit high too.  The faster you go, the wider the discrepancy.  I find it not worth spending any time or money on it.

i guess as long as im going slower than i think I am, that may help me avoid some tickets, so i guess ill learn to live with it  thanks for the help everyone.

I dont use the speedo on my bike (removed the cable).  Just the tach and I can pretty much gauge my speed and of course go with the flow of traffic on the road.
