you know that you can go straight to the self service warehouse as soon as you enter the building...right?
+1  People act so surprised when they find out they can do that.  I just don't get it.

The cheaper stuff at IKEA is chipboard.  If you look at the nicer stuff though it is made of solid wood.

There are shortcuts through the store.  You can always ask a co-worker how is the fastest way to get to an area.  They will point you in the right direction.

IKEA is awesome.

I forgot to mention that last time I went to Ikea (6 miles from my house I might add), I was being herded through like the rest of the cattle and lost my cool.  I knocked over a man who would not move after asking twice to please move.  I darted outside, took a deep breath and the fight began after reminding the spousal unit NEVER again.  There's a metaphor built into this way of shopping, reminds me of a mental institution where everyone lines up for their daily drugs.

hmmmm I am wondering if the Left Coast Ikea's are laid out and labeled differently

as you guys are all posting that there is no problem getting to the end without starting at the beginning ...

maybe there are statutes in Cali or something...fire code maybe...or Meagans Law or just a necessity

due to so many Amber Alerts and people showing up on the sides of milk cartons

that were last seen entering Ikea's...and are still wandering around in them

I have no problems with Ikea's internal layout, once I figured out the shot cuts. Grin

Walmart's layout gives me the creeps.  Tongue Narow isles and high shelves.

Did you go to the one in Elizabeth? The patrons of this store seem to be exceedingly obnoxious in comparison to those of the other stores I have been to.

There are short cuts and warehouse entrances at both Jersey locations.  The signage is poor, but they do exist. I have been to 5 of them across the country and they are all set up exactly the same.

You have to have a certain mindset going in... and knowledge of the shortcuts.  I find that a condescending attitude towards to the mindless idiots who loiter in the middle of the walking paths makes me feel better about myself.

The most aggravating thing about Ikea is that I cannot even buy the raw materials to build shit for what it costs them to sell their finished product.

so asking for a venti decaf, soy milk (whatever that means), a splash of vanilla, half a splenda at 85 degrees is pretentious? I just heard that shit while visiting with a co-worker.  After seeing this thread I tuned into the Barista and couldn't believe the coffee options available.

Don't like 'em? Don't go. Seems simple enough. There are plenty of places I don't like to go to. Guess what I do, find other places to go and spend my money.

I don't understand getting all worked up about it. If you knew it was gonna suck before you went, what do you have to complain about? Why did you go? "The wife dragged me?" Really? She doesn't have a driver's license? She afraid to leave the house without you? "If I didn't go with her she'd be upset." So, she blackmailed you. That's healthy.

Do I like Ikea? No, not really. Does the trick for a handful of cheap things that I know about before I go there (lamp selection isn't bad). Do I like Starbucks? I've had worse. And, if I'm feeling the desire for a cup of coffee, I'll spend my money where I want it. If circumstances dictate I end up at Starbucks, I'll suck it up and bear it. It's their establishment. They can call their drinks whatever they want. Don't single them out because they attached cheeky names to their drinks like NINETY PERCENT of all restaurants do.

Really, does it matter all that much?
