My experience was with DHL from Italy.

Price is immaterial if the delivery company doesn't deliver.

Odd, every single one of my DHL Italian shipments were on time, and they didnt leave 500 dollar packages on my doorstep like UPS or Fed ex did (after I told them not too)

USPS is better than all three

that blows my mind, i have had ZERO problems with them.

and this was in NYC, where UPS has the highest "loss" rate for packages.. I probably had 2 dozen DHL packages from UK and Germany over a year and all of them just fine!
I bought an item off the Ducati website.

Ducati uses DHL.

I'm on a state road..I realize NH is rural, but when a shipping company says they can't find an address and you have to travel 60 miles each way to pick up your package ...that company sucks.

+1

I also hate UPS they still owe me $180 for smashing a CF Hugger I bought of TOB.

Anymore I try to use USPS with the slowest and lowest rate and have had great success so far.

They did that to me!  At 6 am it showed "out for delivery" at 6:15 it said "unable to deliver".  It takes 45 for me to go directly to DHL from my house.
I called the location and asked them to list the 15 min route.  The next day it was delivered... with a map stuck to the top for the driver.  I'm right off a major highway.

That sucks.

I would call up the DHL field office and talk to a mgr about it.  Tell them where you are and that you will likely receive int'l packages and don't feel it's appropriate for you to travel 120 miles round trip for them to do their job.

Fax them a google map showing the route from their location to yours.  That always worked (for my friend in Alaska when he had the same problems with FedEx)

I did talk to a mgr.

He admitted the driver was less than conscientious, but since it was late Friday there wasn't a damn thing he was going to do.

I've received a few shipments from them since without issue.

I've had excellent luck with Fed-Ex ground and home delivery. The service is next day to New England and NYC, the online quotes are spot on, and the ship center I use has very reasonable rates.

DHL will NEVER get business from me again! My issue with them happened last summer when I moved and ordered a new table an chairs for the new place. I ordered them online the week before the move, and the shipping confirmation showed that they should have been delivered between Friday, June 29 and Monday, July 2, which I figured would be perfect since I took the first week of July off to be able to get settled in and do all the random errands that I knew I would need to do. When I checked the tracking on Friday it showed that they had arrived at the DHL location in Boston and were scheduled for delivery that day...which is what it still said on Saturday...and Monday...and Tuesday. So Thursday I called the DHL national office to find out why they were causing me to waste my vacation sitting around waiting for them to get around to doing their job instead of being able to either go out and enjoy my vacation or do errands so I could get everything settled around the house. They had no idea why they hadn't bothered to deliver it yet (gee, what a shock) and promised someone from the Boston office would call within 2 hours to let me know what was going on. 2 and a half hours later someone called from the national office to make sure the Boston office had called to straighten everything out. They actually seemed surprised that no one from the Boston office had gotten around to calling me yet, and promised that the table and chairs would be delivered the next day. So Friday morning I finally get a call from someone in the Boston office promising they would be delivered around 2pm...at 5:30 I called back to ask if they were going to get around to showing up. "Oh, uh they are still here at the depot and all the trucks have already gone out for the day...I guess the box never got loaded this morning. Let me figure something out and call you back..." So 20 minutes later they call back to tell me that they loaded the box in the back of an employee's car and he was on the way to deliver it on his way home. Fine, whatever. I made sure the driveway was clear so he could pull right up to the door and sat on the porch waiting. The guy shows up a little after 6 and instead of pulling in the driveway he stops in the middle of the street and unloads the box right there for me to carry up to the house, then takes off.

So basically my vacation was wasted because DHL is too make the beast with two backsing stupid and lazy to figure out how to do their job. At least Amazon refunded the $80 shipping fee when I emailed them about what happened and informed them that any future orders through them would automatically be cancelled if they showed DHL as being the shipping method.

Moral of the story...never, EVER ship with DHL!

hbliam

There is a DHL hub in the City I patrol. Many of the drivers are parolees. A while back there there was a high incident rate of thefts from that hub. Needless to say we all use FedEx.

Why can't DHL print out their own map?  I don't get paid for doing their logistics.

yah, I've generally had really good experiences with Amazon since they actually seem to care about their customers  [thumbsup]

the thing that really killed me with that whole experience was that it was a beautiful, warm, sunny week wasted sitting around waiting...oh, and did I mention that last May was when I bought my Monster?  [bang]

they CAN

but if you want to get your packages instead of just pregnant doging about it, then do it for them.

my problem was that i have shippers in germany -- DHL ~is~ the post office in Germany!

They did not steal it, they "lost it" after going past the drivers home.
