I believe it was El Matador (he might have been quoting Jorge Lorenzo) who said "I'd toss puppies into traffic all day long to ride that."

..."I'd toss puppies into traffic all day long to ride that."...

Kittens too.

But  being serious, I've always said that I love the way my SC handles (once I got the suspension and brakes dialed in), and feel the only thing it's really lacking is in the power department.  Many times I've thought that I'd love to see what it would feel like with the LC8 from my SD in it.  That thing above strikes me as the best of both worlds.  All I'd have to do is see if the BSTs would swap over.   Evil

WWSDD? Why Anal of course!

Well, the way he was explaining it to me was that with me keeping the Multi, a 690 would be too much of an overlap in terrain options whereas a 450 or 500 would extend the off road capabilities of my stable more.

Anything over 100 miles and on pavement or packed gravel will be done on the Multi. Loose gravel, dirt roads, single track, exploring the woods will be done on the KTM...
That's where he was saying the 450 or 500 would ultimately be the better option.

Don't get me wrong, being a fat old guy, I like the fully adjustable suspension and extra power of the 690.

Don't discount the power of the 450-500 bikes.

The first time I hammered the throttle on my 450 with dirt tires it snapped to about 12 o'clock pretty much right now. That was on wet grass.

I think I agree. The 690 is too close to what you have. What you describe wanting to do in the woods etc would be perfect for the smaller bikes.  I think mine weighs 250 pounds and makes 45 hp or thereabouts.

That's the way I am leaning...Plus it is something I am more likely to ride in the winter versus a 20k+ bike and an 11k+ bike. hehe.
