I'm sure that some day you'll see my speedymoto setup.

Hi Matty, yes i have been to d-moto a few times. They know monsters alright. I bought speedymoto clip ons with zero rise, but havent fitted them.  Happy with lower bars atm, but may do the conversion later. Shaun actually milled the bar clamps down an inch for me. Made a dramatic weight distribution difference and improvement in front end control.

Ill be attending the bells ride tomorrow if ur free.

Good day all.

Intro post.

From one italian (Vespa) to another (Monster 696) it sure has been a VERY interesting transition since last Friday

After visiting both Frasers and Northside, the reality of Pricing lead me to buy my first Ducati from the former. David, my sales person was my contact when I first saw the Demo (which had 3100Kms)

At just under eleven Grand for an 09plate, the bike was ok in pricing.

Two weekends ago the sale saw the price of the 696 dropped to a very convincing price (way under 10grand) I did not hesitate to put a deposit  - Last Friday I took delivery of my Monster. The 14km ride from the showroom to work was the best fun I had in a long time...

There were many discussion I read re: David's sale ethics etc etc...To be honest, I received nothing but top service from him from our first contact. He gave me all the time I needed and never took more than 1 hour to respond to my many voicemail left in his machine.
Steve from Northside bike was awesome too - However in the end, pricing and availability of bike took priority. Spending another 6 plus grand for a 2011 plate (even though it has ABS) is a little too much (and for the Mrs) - Not too keen on another 3 months wait too.

I rode up to Glenbrook on Sunday - The ride was BBBBBEeeeuuuaaatiful...so nice it should be kept in the pool room. This machine needs to be treated with lots more respect  and I have since decided to ride it say, 2 to 3 times a week and still use my "other" italian to commute.

No mods planned except Oggyknobs and perhaps remove tail to make it look "cleaner"
Look forward to join a few people on a ride....

ten litres for about 230km - About right people?? whats most other 696 experience??

Cheers

Nice one Buzz.

Welcome to the 09 696 brigade. Not many of us here.

The boys at Northside I have found nothing but pleasurable in my experiences.

I must say 230kms for 10Litres of fuel is phenominal!! Im lucky to get 190kms on my tank. But that said im not riding it conservatively (without sounding like a wanker) and the termi system I believe chews more fuel than stock if thats what you have. I'm probably fatter than you too.

What colour you get? Any pics?

Ah Thermi!!! they sound GREAT!!! (But risking waking up my Mrs at ungodly hours during the bike "warm up" ritual is not THAT appealing - For now Roll Eyes )

Being a Demo, it has the pearl white Stock standard - I have to be honest, other than the price and the bike it self, it has a nice NSW Rego number attached to it - " M696 "
Not wanting to be a "wanker" The Chaser - Wanker Number Plates, I had initially wanted to take the bike without the plate.. But it was a subtle touch for a bike which I do not forsee me having too many Mods. So I kept it!!! Now if you see a pearl white with the Rego, Thats me!

Cheers
