Pretty self explanatory, the part with the arrow and question mark.  [laugh] I think they are ugly, not to mention the boxes, all the tubing, metal spring and filters add weight.  ;D I want to dump them, what happens if i do? This is drawing #16 on pages 36 and 37 of the manual. I want to remove parts #8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16

My rear brake is just for looks.

Yes, these can be removed.  These are just breather boxes for the carbs.  I don't remember what I did with the hoses on mine, but note that they have small in-line filters to keep the carbs from sucking in particulate matter.

Skyshadow

So can I cap the leads out of the carbs for these lines going to the boxes and be ok? Or do i have to leave the lines and filters? Curious why it has to breath, is it a idling thing?

I wouldn't cap them - since they're breather tubes, someone decided that air needed to be able to flow in and out.  Without actually playing around with them, I imagine that you're looking at something like the float bowls needing to adjust pressure as the fuel levels fluctuate up and down internally, but I'm not entirely sure.

Skyshadow

I am the same, I'm unsure what happens if they are not allowed to breath. Makes me wish someone like Chris Kelley from CA-Cycleworks or DuckStew would chime in with their knowledge.

You can't cap the tubes but you can remove the pods.  You have to make sure the ends of the tubes are in still air or the carb slides won't work correctly

Yeah they need to be in still air. I routed mine up between the battery and the airbox, under the coils.

Here's a nice step-by-step to look at too.

And here too: http://www.ducatisuite.com/emissions.html get rid of the black box under the seat and replace it with a filter ($10 from advance auto parts).

If you haven't done it already, you should also get the Factory Pro jet kit for you bike. Around $100 from ca-cycleworks.com but worth it!

Gnarly, Thanks guys. DucatiSuite is awesome. I'm planning on getting a Factory Pro kit but I had questions about it and I'm waiting on the answer. Simple question really, is the Factory Pro jet kit like a built it yourself kit cause it isn't labelled stage 1 or 2 like the dynojet...

These are pretty much the steps you'll need to follow
- drain gas from the carbs and get them off the bike
- take apart the carbs, following the included instructions
- swap parts
- check/adjust float height
- re-assemble.

that's all there is to it really.

two things you really need to watch for are:
1. work in a well vented area so you don't breath too many fumes
2. watch for the small bits and be gentle (don't over torque things).

Haa, Awesome thanks. I know how to put jets in, is that all it is? And any idea what size jets?

I don't remember the size, but the jets are included in the kit: everything but the tools is included.

Oh, and be careful with the rubber gaskets and o-rings, they're (relatively) easy to pinch! And then it's  [bang] [bang] [bang]

[edit]This is what the kit looks like: needles, jets, springs...
