So bike won't start.  2 amber blinks and then solid.

Checked fuse, took custom HID light power off, still won't start.

Any clues what the 2 amber blinks then solid means?

Thank you

The immobilizer hates you.

having another Duc key nearby can upset it.

Some other RFID key might also upset it.

Possibly something else in the circuit is upset (gauges, ECU) or a fuse is blown.

Check the antenna connection too.  If you have another key try it.  The bike should start with the code on the code card you recieved with the bike.  How to is in the owner's manual.  No manual?  Look here: http://www.ducati.com/services/maintenance/index.do

Once thing I do with my code cards is to scratch it off asap and take a picture of it.  Then I store it online on some pic site and send a copy to my email account with the title "ducati code card".

This way I figure there is no real way I can misplace it.  That little card is just too easy to lose and freaking expensive to replace.

I hid the red key n card somewhere and now I got find where the heck it is.
My buddy was looking at it n turned the key on and in nano second off before things could kick in.  N immediately after that can't start.
Checked fuse.  Will look into other suggestions next.
Never ends...

Ok, red key didn't make a difference.  But after taking headlight off and wiggling the wires, she started for a bit.  Put headlight back on, no start.  So some wire is crimped I am guessing?  She is being worked on.
Now that is another paranoia when I ride. Just great.

Oh as if that's not enough, my triumph none of the backlights work now.  You ask how did I find out? A cager got next to me and screamed it out.  Wiggle wire it works then stops.  Just great.

There is strong possibility that when my HID light shorted, the wire that passes right by ecu and antenna  may be fried.  :-(  :-(  :-(
That's what I am told may hace happened by buddy rider who fixed my triumph.

Sending her to pro shop asap.  but if ecu is fried, I don't know how much that will set me back? Very frustrated !  I really want to keep on chugging on more miles on her too :-( but not sure how long I can afford it.  Luv this bike too much to giver up on her yet.

IMO, get it flashed and be done with the immobilizer.  It seems about all the immobilizer is good for preventing the rightful owner from riding off into the sunset.

ab

Howie - get it flashed? Who or where do you get that done?  Will the bike still operate after that?

( please educate me in this as I know nothing ).

Thanks

I don't know where you live, but   http://www.ducpond.com/specials.asp  is one (I think).  Probably best is ask on your local board.  Since your bike has no O2 sensor all you need is the immobilizer killed.  Your bike will start with the key, no code needed, no marrying the dash and computer just like the days of the carbed Monsters.  The trade off is you no longer have electronic theft protection.

ab

Local ducati dealer in Columbus said they don't reflash to disable it but that i might need new key etc paired.  They will diagnose it if i bring in.  I need to research this more.  I really font want to replace etc n spend lots on this.  At this high mile....

Don't even start down the replacement parts path.  Houston Superbikes, Ducati depot and a whole host of others can disable the immobilizer.  Get in touch with someone, pop the ECU off, stick it in a flat-rate box and ship it out!

ab

Yes, I really don't want to replace.  Just not worth the cost and frankly I can't afford it.

So is this a common issue?
