I have an old English bike that I have had since the Vietman unpleasantness.

Beautiful. Such pretty bikes. 60s models the prettiest. The looks went down a bit in the 70s. I had a '73 T140. Loved her dearly.
They are the MG's, Sunbeams or Austin Healeys of the bike world.
Still running the old Amal Monoblock carb?

Over the years I have tried a couple of other carbs, butt the Monoblock always seems to run the best. I haven't run it yet with the new exhaust and can't wait to go for a putt.

Although a very heavy motor, those old triples are incredibly torquey and leave the twins for dead. Very impressive motor. I deal with two T150 Tridents and the motors hold up to real world riding. The weight is kept low in the frame though. I know a guy who sold his street triple and instead rides a restored T150 with modernized ignition and electrics. It seems you need to add another disc, jet the middle pot a little richer, rewire them and get an aftermarket ignition and they go well. After riding both I understand. Never thought I'd say it, but I'd have one over my old Bonnie any day.
If that Norton frame drops a lot of weight,  then that would be a great bike.

I have a soft spot for the Triumph Triple. A mechanic friend of mine warns me off of them, tho......

The T150 had a rep for seizing the middle cylinder when real hot or racing. During jetting tests we found that the middle pot ran leaner on the same jets as the outer cylinders. The middle exhaust divides off and extracts into the two outer cylinder pipes, while the air cleaner appears to flow more air into the middle cylinder. In addition to those issues the middle cylinder cops heat saturation with less cooling fin area and you have a problem.
To get the same plug colours, we ran the middle carb needle a notch richer and a couple of sizes richer on the main jet.
We know of guys with 850 big bore kits, but no issues if the jetting is set correct for the middle cylinder. Sometimes the oil galleries are opened and special oil coolers are used on worked motors.
I rode a 675 Street Triple and was bored, but had a ball on the old trident! I like these jiggers!

I saw "Slippery Sam" at the National Bike Museum in England back in the '90s. I also saw the prototype Quadrant. Cheesy

They have a glorious looking motor. The T150 motor looks better than the T160 motor imo.
