Titanium Axles and stuff

Hi All
Want a Ti or superduper alloy axle for your Monster?
REAR AXLE: Just letting you all know that I have sent an axle from a 900 Monster with alloy swingarm to Monsterlover (Kevin) at South Morgan Technologies. Looking to have Ti or the latest alloy axles made. If you have a 900 Monster with alloy swingarm and want to be in on the production run then you can PM me or Kevin. Kevin said he can do the axle nuts too if you want. The more the better for all of us including Kevin.
Will have an initial price soon to give you a ballpark figure.
FRONT AXLE: I also sent an M900 17mm front axle to him if anyone wants a Ti or alloy copy made. That is the ancient Monster axle, so f you want a later type axle then Kevin will need a sample sent to him.
Kevin is a sponsor and member. Payments are straight to Kevin, I'm not a middleman and don't get a cut. I just want a reliable supplier of quality machined parts and have it on good authority that he is just that.
Cheers
Tony

If its an alloy swingarm with the gold adjustment plates then it matches. The front of course is another matter. Theres no reason he cant help you there if he gets a sample.
Kevin is waiting for enough orders to do a production run. He is getting a price on different materials. Pm him or myself if you like.

Alloy? It's the Aluminum swinger on the S - vs steel. Though I don't thing the axles are different - just the side plates.

Regarding the
REAR
axle - I've been researching this while talking with Tony and Kevin about the project; I have both aluminum and steel swingarms in hand for measurement; the following may be useful:
Starting with the given that this is for 17mm diameter axle models ....
The inside dimension of the aluminum swingarm (between the 'forks') is the same as steel.
However
, the outside dimension is greater on the aluminum arm because of the thicker wall of the 'fork' extrusion in aluminum.
So,
the aluminum swingarm has a LONGER axle than the steel model
to account for this. An axle for the steel swingarm is not long enough to properly capture the nuts if used on an aluminum arm; an axle for the aluminum swingarm is too long in the unthreaded section to allow the nuts to grip on a steel swingarm.
I believe that the Ducati Part Number for the axle that Kevin is replicating is 81910241A.

So, if I have this right, 2 of you want rear axles and one of you wants the bastard sized front axle?
I got the rear measured up. The center hole was drilled during the manufacturing process and they drilled it half way from each end. The holes do not line up
I would like to use tubing if possible as it would save a lot of money in tooling. A good drill to do that right is probably $400. I could use a cheap hss drill but then you get a crappy hole that doesn't necessarily go straight.
** on second thought, I don't like the tubing idea as much. Looks like 3al-2.5v is easy to get in tubing, but it's not nearly as strong as 6al-4v, which I can get in a solid.**
These Ti axles will probably be a lot cheaper than you guys think. . .
Biggest thing right now - How many people are in? More people = lower cost per piece for material. Let's just go with a ball park price of $150 shipped as a target (which may change up or down some)

I'll have a rear axle and a Jurassic front axle please
So far we have interest from carbmon, SP, junior varsity, BastardHK and myself. I'll see if a mate also wants a Jurassic front.
Who wants to confirm firm orders?

Per email to Kevin, I'm just waiting for unthreaded & total length for the rear to confirm it fits my swingarm. If that's right for me I'll commit
Then I've got to ask the price for the matching flange nuts, drilled for safety wire per race tech rules?

Wish I had a spare $150 laying around.
My bike is set up with the silly front axle too.

I got no cash for it, business card. It's a legit business expense! Gotta showcase the product of my new supplier!
