I'm chiming in, I've been riding on the back of my husbands Harley for a couple of months now, and decided I wanted my own bike. Went into the Ducati dealership, sat on the 696M and fell in love, right in the showroom. They had black and red, but I too wanted white... So here I am waiting until next Tuesday for her to arrive from the warehouse  Smiley

Depending on how much your used 696 costs, if you had to order new body pieces, that would cost you between $800-1000, which might bring you to "new" bike cost anyway. I'd just powder coat/paint it I think!

I just got mine last week.  I bought a very pre-owned 2009 696 dark with just 500miles.  I think I got a great deal for 7k. Private sale.
Just put about 75 miles on her and i'm still grinning & smiling. I absolutely love this duck. I use to have a 1999 750 Monster.
The main reason I bought this bike is I am vertically challenged & the low seat height suits me + I just ordered the low seat height which will make it even more at home...everywhere I go people just can't take there eyes off her.
I really like the new styling & it feels as fast as my old 750 monster.

Wow guys, way to let my thread die!  Kidding! 

I am looking at used 696's lately and have found a couple in balck, but I want white.  I know the colored body pieces swap out, but can't seem to find prices.  Has anybody swapped out their body work yet?  What did it set you back?

I just stop at my Dealer today and ask them about 696 Colour kits. They quote me $1400, and there are 10 different colors you can choose.

From what i understand MSRP on those kits are $800, so your dealer is padding himself pretty good there.

That would be great, but I'm not sure I believe that MSRP. I've heard prices in the several hundreds of dollars per side for the "tank" panels. Add in a new fender and seat cowl, and $800 seems like a relative bargain. I certainly can't get my 620's tank painted for less than $800, and that's using existing parts.

If they really are at that price point, I predict they'll sell a zillion. For one thing, that would mean it hardly matters what color a used bike is, or whether the fender is chipped - just buy a color kit and almost all the painted bits are new!

Hi all,

Well the clues in the title really - can you spot the difference? No prizes on this one.

Never really been a big fan of black wheels, which is a shame as 90% of new bikes come with them. So I thought I'd something about it and I'm realy glad I did. With the black swingarm / seat and frame I felt the black wheels made the bike look a bit dark and dull and the colour scheme needed 'lifting'. Having always liked the silver wheels on the M1100 I thought I'd give it a go. As ever the pics don't really do the wheels justice they've been finished with a really nice high gloss laquer that looks like glass. What do you think? Be honest now..........

I think you've set the tone for a theme  waytogo..  A theme to be continued.......  Evil

How about maybe ceramic coating the exhaust to match those wheels?  


... polishing the headlight bezel (this one's actually silver ceramic coated)..


And to finish off, a cool polished alloy front fender extender  Cool Wink

The wheels look great Banus.  Nice job  waytogo.

Too much silver in the back now, with the stock cans and the rear passenger pegs. Maybe some black or CF cans.

THe original prototype of the new Monster had the subframe silver as well.
polish the swingarm as well... and you have a silver and red thing going through and through.
silver rizoma belt covers.
silver mirrors
silver levers, etc
