They found room for a very short rookie course, so the test and tune / licensing folks have a place to be out of the way. I still anticipate long lines.

Audio stream from the timing booth here http://webca.st/154607

Racing starts at 0730, but I assume the announcer will start nattering on sometime before then.

Dirty Duc

Meh.

The course was terrible, waiting in line for two days sucks, and I have a bunch of things to improve.

There's only a day and a half left, I was planning on skipping Friday anyway, which leaves me with not enough time to fix things, even if I fixed everything in line.

Yeah, if there were more courses, and if we hadn't lost three days of racing, it would have been different.

Many people were unhappy with how it turned out.

I feel for you.

Next year?
Appreciated. Nothing to be done, though.

Many also struggled with matching previous speeds... to the tune of 20-40 mph. So 124 wasn't that bad in context.

List for next year:
Make front end have better geometry.
The course was super bumpy, and the springs were mighty stiff. It also felt pretty flighty, like maybe I need little more trail, but that could have been a side effect of the stiffness. There was a whole lot of shakin' going on, and keeping it in a straight-ish line required some concentrated relaxation and body positioning.

Fix the shifter.
I  screwed up the geometry on that, but didn't have time to re-engineer. Bodged it together, but it didn't work well.

Fix the tank.
The tire grew at speed and touched part of the inside. Not good.

Spend some time on a dyno to get the tune closer to square.
Many changes to the intake meant I probably have way too much fuel going in. I kept bumping it last year in an attempt to compensate for it blowing away in the breeze at 140-ish. It's probably way too much now.

Front fender.
This was on the list for this year, but the demon thief of time came along and made it not happen. The rules allow what for this bike is a fairly liberal definition of "not-streamlined" front fender.

Well, assuming I can figure out what youtube is doing... there should be video soon.

No problem.

You also see me looking for the footpeg that I couldn't remember where I put... that was the first time in this configuration. It was fine once I found it, but I just couldn't wrap my head around how far back it was.

koko64

Was wondering about that. They gave you plenty of time to warm up.

I cut out about half the warm up time on the video. Really you can start warming up whenever you want. I was trying to get at least a little heat into it before I started, because the alky cools down so much.

I probably shouldn't have had my dad put it in gear so soon...

So, at this point Speedweek is still on, but the two major events after have cancelled.

This seems like one of the few risks I can manage by myself at the moment, and seems increasingly risky. Add to that several other impacts, and the "crew" is definitely well into the high risk area. I decided last month that we aren't going this year.

Progress: Picked up an air cylinder to make into a shifter. Been researching spring rates. Making plans.

Assuming the world isn't in a similar state of disarray next year, we'll be back.

Sorry to hear mate. Seems the bug has taken off in your state. It's hard doing meets on your own.
