has anyone ever run these PIAA 510's on a Monster before? I did a search but found nothing. They're popular, obviously, on bimmers, but i would like to usse them on my m900. i have kind of a mad-max thing going on, and i need more light for nighttime driving. but do i have the power?

Careful, you mount those things on your bike and next thing you know, you'll experience an overwhelming desire to mount big aluminum boxes on it and ride to Starbucks.

hahaha! classic!
i just want to be able to see at night. my old monster headlight is WEAK -- even with a replacement bulb that's supposed to be awesome. i figure if i add a couple of these PIAA lights to it, i'll be able to see as well as a cager, right?
or wrong? not sure if my battery could handle... maybe this should have gone to tech?

I am assuming you are talking on your 99 M900 City?....you might want to 1st look at your RR connector off the engine case/stator to make sure that the wiring is not brittle and then repacked with plenty of dielectric grease....that being said...what is the spec of wattage draw on those 510's?...there are plenty of lower wattage LED lights out now worthy of considering...take a looksee at
www.webbikeworld.com
for some reviews of a few newer ones as of late...and
www.twistedthrottle.com
has some various offerings that may be slightly lower wattage but still have equal light output....but all of that being said...if you are not running any other accessories ( ie:heated grips, heated gear, wired in GPS,etc.) you are probably for the most part okay....I would be mounting them low if I were you ( which ever option you end up choosing/running with) but they can be mounted using a horn mounting bracket like from an 01 S4 on the bottom portion of the triple with minimal modification.

Those are good ol' fashioned 55 watt lamps, available in either fog or driving. If you run all three lights simultaneously, 165 watts.

bingo! Thank you, zoooms! that is exactly the info i was looking for.
i have reecently acquired an m-unit, and as soon as i find some electrical engineer fully versed in motogadgetry in the new york area, i plan on fully re-wiring my old monster, so that should not be an issue. now i need to find one of those brackets -- perfect!
