I have verizon, picked up the samsung u740 a year ago. I like it because its slim and has a keyboard. I also popped in a 2gb micro sd card which was 7 bucks online and use it as an mp3 player. When I had a month of free web I did some email with it but verizon's software for the phone is not very good for this at all. You can pick them up dirt cheap now a days.

You might want to wait a bit - the google open source 'Android' is being adopted by a LOT of handset makers.... which means Android enabled phones will have 1000s of plug n play applications available to them.

I thought I was the only one with this phone. I love it! Great for txting but the web browsing isn't very good.

I love my Blackberry 8310. Does texting and calling much better than my RAZR ever did and is great for web browsing too, but it is kinda pricey.

I like my EnV 2

It has the same browser as the phone posted above which means it's OK. But full kebaord makes texting easy. It's also pretty slim and looks good...

I like my blackberry curve, hated the LG enV.  Had it not even 2 months before changing, and I'm the type to keep a phone until it breaks.

Verizon has a few blackberrys now, got some flyer. Fuller (huh?) web than their software...
Think they have something coming out soon w/ full web, windows ce, etc...

Don't get the Chocolate, it's a peice of shit.

Honestly, I'm not buying another fancy/trendy phone again. You drop them once, and they goto shit. I really like the new line of verizon phones, but I don't want to be stuck w/ a peice of shit again. I'm really thinking about Verizon's milspec phone -- that way I can throw it at my car/girlfriend/cat/door/wall/earth/motorcycle/boss/teacher/dad/god and it not break the first time.

They all suck.  Every last one of them.

Get one of these:

My 8820 sucks less than most others.  For all other apps, the BlackBerry's are the best.

As a phone, they're crap.  Need a really good earpiece.
It's all in the grind, Sizemore. Can't be too fine, can't be too coarse. This, my friend, is a science. I mean you're looking at the guy that believed all the commercials. You know, about the "be all you can be." I made coffee through Desert Storm. I made coffee through Panama while everyone else got to fight, got to be a Ranger.

Has google confirmed anything involving this phone yet? I've been wondering when it's coming out.

4th Qt of 2008. That's what they've been saying all along, but then there were rumors that it would be this quarter of 2008. Turns out those people were wrong and Google confirmed again that they're on track for the end of this year. I'm not holding my breath, but I am looking forward to it.

Someone's going to say iPhone.  Might as well be me.

Yeah, I know, wrong carrier.  I solved that by breaking my contract (and paying to do so), and switching to AT&T.  I also bought the iPhone at the full "make the beast with two backs you" price that Apple initially charged.  I'm crazy.

Still, I'm happy with the decision.  Here's why:

I'm not a phone person.  Meaning, the calling capability of a phone is the part that I tend to use the least.  I need to have a cell with me for work purposes, but other than that I rarely initiate phone calls.  Call me antisocial.

What I appreciate most about the iPhone is:

1) the browser.  It rocks.  Having access to google and wikipedia and amazon and ebay and.... all the time is amazing.

2) the ability to play video in a way that's actually watchable and enjoyable.  I usually prop the phone up on the exercise bike at the gym, and watch an episode of King of the Hill while I get my daily cardio.  This feels natural and uncramped, aside from my legs.

Eh, anyhow, depending upon your main use of the phone, and your tolerance of switching carriers, you might consider it.  I'm very happy; it fits my needs well.

+1.  It's Bluetooth setup is much nicer, as well.  As an upgrade, it's not too price; although, I made my wife buy it for me.  [cheeky]
