I love the look and the idea and I was gonna do my own from cutting up a stock clutch cover. Then I realized that it probably wouldnt be allowed on the track like that.

All the research I gathered was that it is cheaper and easier to just swap for an equal displacement engine with a dry clutch.
There was a sport 1000 that got a dry clutch via the DP 848 dry clutch kit and even that took a bit of work. And that kit is not cheap.
I also looked into using a dry clutch side case cover and swapping the bits but that the primary gears would need to be swapped as well as the oil pump. And that the pushrod would be too short as well or something.

if you look that kit isn't cheap because it's a slipper and mag side cover. both of which are extremelly expensive compared to stock parts. |

I know but if you're wanting a dry clutch just for the sake of having a dry clutch in a bike that didnt come with one, its a bit over kill. This part by ducabike is a really nice looking alternative. It the price was 50% of what it is. |

Does the kit come with a slipper clutch? I did not see that because if it does it is a heck of a deal....... The primary reason I liked the dry clutch was the nifty moving parts, I wanna hear my pipes rumble, not my clutch clatter. Although I could see a serious fit thrown if the clear cover got scratched......... I am like a freaking parrot, attracted to anything shiny. I should'a picked up tin foil origami for a hobby, would'a been a hell of a lot cheaper  |

This looks pretty cool...for the sake of spinning bling at least. I too am not a fan of the open clutch racket - sounds like something is broken or loose, it would drive me nuts. But they sure do look cool...

I knew someone with a similar part on a TL1000, it leaked like crazy. I would hope this part would not have that issue, but the price seams high for just a side cover. I would think with the oil being flung off the clutch at most times it would be hard to see through anyways.

Dry slipper clutch kit for 848. Improves rear wheel tracking even under aggressive downshifting.
The dry part has nothing to do with improving the rear wheel tracking...that's all the slipper, and there are wet versions too for less than the $1700 dry conversion cost. I personally don't get the love for dry clutches other than the look (which is definitely cool). Otherwise wet are nicer for pretty much everything. |
