The Bell V280 keeps the motors fixed, and swivels the rotors, while the Osprey swivels the whole enchilada.

Is this a noise signature issue, at least partly?
An Osprey flew into Van Nuys a little while ago, and it was making quite a racket.
Led me to wonder.

It's a giant ballache to make that big of a design change.

Bambi Bucket training. Something that sadly we will get lots of real world experience with this summer.

That one is 600 gal.  Chinooks carry 2600.

600 gallons... 5000 lbs of water, plus the bucket and cable ? !
