Not sure what to make of the new Monster.  I'll probably warm up to it once I see it in person; just like every other Ducati to come down the pike recently  Roll Eyes

http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2014-ducati-monster-1200-and-1200-s/full/#photo-1291485/

And here's the story of its launch at EICMA:

And then there's this: a liquid cooled Harley Davidson "cafe" bike.  It is powered by a smaller version of the "Revolution X" motor co-deisgned with Porsche:

The Multi starts at nearly the same price as the "loaded" Monster........pass on both price and looks.  I still think it should have a full frame, after all it's part of the beauty IMO.

I actually love the new 1200.  It looks like my EVO with some cool changes.  Not all are great but in general I like the frame equal to my EVO, the sub-frame is MUCH better IMO on the 1200.  Also it's adjustable ride height and you can get it MUCH lower stock than the EVO (I'm short so subjective).  I think it looks like a great bike... and I'd love the power I bet.  I want to ride one.

I love it, but then again, I seem to love all motorcycles since I started riding last year, maybe discretion will come with experience  laughingdp.

I really couldn't justify the price of the 1100 with only 20 or so more hp than the 696, even with the add-ons such as traction control. I think the higher price of the 1200 is justified. Would love to ride one, but I don't see me rolling out of the showroom on top of one. Maybe a good upgrade path in a couple of years.

Secretly I long for a dry clutch air cooled 1k+cc Monster with DSP Cheesy.

If anyone is wondering there's only one 1100 left at AMS, and it's the 20th anniversary edition Smiley.

It's OK, I find it meh. The Harleys I want (badly, VERY BADLY... LOL) are the Softail SLim and the Harley 48.  Subjective though obviously.

Agree with the full frame comment.  This new monster is worse than the old one.  Looks like a Diavel had an illegitimate child with a Streetfighter.   boo

Zero love for the HD too.  There are some very nice looking HDs on the market... this is not one of them.

And this coming from a guy who owns one of the worst looking things around.   laughingdp

It's more of a miniature diavel than a monster really. I'm sure it won't be too long before the 796 is dropped too and and the 821 moved into its place.

I was expecting that too, though when I checked the ducati website they also list a 795 monster now, looks like its just a 796 with the 696 swingarm.

I believe they sell that one in India? It's a 796 engine wedged into the 696 AFAIK.
