It's snowing!!!
«

It started snowing this morning, a fairly rare event here. In my 46 years of riding, this is the first bike that I don't want to take out in the snow.
I must be getting soft.........

I've been caught in the snow on both the M750 and my 900SS. Got some odd looks riding down the road that day...

I used to ride in the snow..... First time ever was over Loveland Pass in the Winter time, during a blizzard on a CBR 600F2.
I was stopped at the last gas station before going over without a hotel in sight. Was considering a bivy sack night under a bridge when an 70+ year old man wearing all black (and very tired leathers) riding an ancient Beemer walked up to me and asked if I was "going over". I told him I had never ridden in snow before and was feeling a bit intimidated. He laughed it off and told me to follow him and I would be fine. I could not say no as I was standing there on my bright red sport bike, wearing a shiny Aerostitch suit and a heated vest.
I gave it a shot and ya know what? He was right! Both feet out to the sides we moto'd our way over the pass. The guy had icicles in his beard and water frozen in the cracks of his face. It was an incredible adventure, one I will never forget. The confidence he gave me in that one short (sorta) ride lasted a lifetime.
I have since powered my way through several very snowy days in the Sierras. Although I will have to admit my Evo will not ever see the snow.......

Try snow on a heavily modded Yamaha RD 350.
(explosive power band slightly wider than the edge of a razor blade) (below 5,500 nada, @ 5,500 either the front wheel lifted or the rear tire smoked, some times both) The only saving grace was it was really light, so I rode home like I was on an over-sized moto-crosser.

I've ridden in snow on so many different street bikes, it's not even funny.
Honda Nighthawk 250, Honda Shadow VLX, Honda Magna 750, Kawasaki Ninja 250, Kawasaki Vulcan 500, Honda Hawk GT, Honda Pacific Coast, S2R1000, 696.
I'll tell you right from now, long wheelbase cruisers are way easier to ride in the snow than short wheelbase sportbikes.
That, and if you have to ride in snow, Metzeler tires always were my first choice. Avons are a close second.

Actually did that 3 years ago
Mine hits around 4000-4500rpms though. Thankfully it has a bit more knobby tires and narrower which helped.
I've ridden the dirtbike in 2-3 feet of snow.. that was actually a blast!
