Yes, Budget some diamonds in the build and deliver them to her prior to the teardown. Start after all parts are in hand to shorten the mess. Drape a sheet over the work table ea night...

It really depends on your wife, man.
Some are far more averse to motor stuff in the house. I know mine is. When we were in NYC, I once received a motor on a pallet -- in our apartment. It was only in the house for 2 days and then I moved it to the workshop, but wow, she was pissssssed.

I think you really need to buy her her own unreliable bike, so you can share quality time working on them.
