05 S2R 800 - I had a down in the hills managed minor damage . The bar end took the biggest hit as well as the shifter. Only slight scuffs on the alternate cover. Thats about it. I was able to ride back home no issues.

I talked to the dealer and a replacement shifter was 112 dollars. That's without the linkage . Seems a little steep.

Anyone have good options I can look into for cheaper a shifter isnt rocket science so I'm thinking there must be some sort of aftermarket option somewhere. I'm pretty happy with regular shifting.

Just as a note after 10 years of riding, I dont feel like going reverse shift.

Thanks in advance.

look up reverse shifters on ebay. I can't remember the name of mine, but it's held up well for quite a while. This will obviously get rid of the linkage and make it 1 up 5 down instead, but the slop from the linkage will be gone. I think I paid like $45 4 years ago...

Bending it back into shape is free.

Shouldn't even need a heat gun. hammer or urethane mallet would work well. I just prefer the feel without the linkage.
