There were fires a couple of weeks ago in the nearby State Forest.

Authorities at the time reported this fire at a proximity central to the forest.....  What I saw today - though widespread - was on the south eastern edge.  Still bad, but not as bad as official reports had made me fear.

Not the changing colours of Northern hemisphere Autumn..... as the still lingering acrid aroma of burned forest attests...

And closer to home, a favourite water hole where the trees remain blissfully green...

...the water as brown as chocolate.

Makes me want to go out on my Husky  ... I've been postponing my ride due to the rainy season... it's nearing the  end of the rainy season now. Hopefully I can get out to ride soon ... I really envy you Ung chug

Looks very much like SoCal.

I always like a post fire ride. Changes your perspective for sure.

We nearly ran over an Amethystine Python that was stretched completely across the road when I was down there.  I was up near Darwin, so quite a bit north of you.

Looks like an interesting ride!

Road through central Colorado in 2012 after their fires...was very surreal.

I hear that a lot.  (Must be all the gum trees).

Not sure if like is the right word.  But you're right, it sure is a different perspective.

Yeah, surreal is the word.

Looks like a different planet.

Sort of reminds me of the area around Mount St. Helens.

Reminds me of driving through lake county after the fire.

That middle pic is really cool, but eerie at the same time!

Yep. Way too many places like that here in Colorado to ride through as well. Same problems with runoff water. Thanks for sharing.
