.... looking for a list of good sites to use for the best pricing of aftermart parts for monsters that will ship to Aus.
Hi Luke, welcome!
PJs PartsRun by a very friendly couple - PJ and Paige - Mostly known for the excellent service and supplying Rizoma parts - also do other brands like Mivv exhausts and the like (which sound excellent, just ask anyone who's followed Mattyvas round some twisties).
Are very accommodating to Oz customers, and are probably the most recommended ducati parts supplier on the DMF - highly recommended.
BTW, they have also acted as agents on occasion, and taken delivery of an ebay purchase to consolidate with an order they are about to ship to you - not sure if that is a one off or something they are willing to do ongoing, but worth an ask..
CA CycleworksRun by Chris Kelly. You'll find a lot of useful maintenance bits and pieces here, and loads of good advice.
Again, very accommodating of Oz Customers. Chris also authored
www.ducatisuite.com which is an excellent DIY maintenance site for ducati's, and has also produced a number of instructional videos, which you will find on the ducati suite site and on the DMF tech forum.
Moto WheelsMartin at motowheels is a long time supporter of the DML / DMF and has a good range of stuff. I've purchased a couple of things from him and have found him to be very good as well.
Desmo TimesLT Snider - author of a great maintenance book and creator and supplier of general maintenance and modification stuff - not so much bling, more maintenance..
Monster PartsJeff H of the DML's business. A great resource for monster centric parts, great guy and very good to deal with.
You'll note that all my recommendations are from the US - hard to go past the US given the sheer amount of availability and our current exchange rate!
Anyway, that's a start - I'm sure others will suggest more options. Don't forget to check what the DMF sponsors have as well!
please let me know if there are any other basic mods I should look into as good starts too.
The first things a lot of people do:
14 tooth front sprocket - less top end speed, but much more friendly at low speed. cheap mod - typ around $100 fitted
Pipes - but you already know that!
from there you either go:
- bling - billet, carbon, mirrors, indicators, stripes, paint and the like
- performance enhancing bling - pipes, ECU upgrades / carb rejetting, power commanders, open airboxes etc
or a combination of the two
for some extreme examples, check out melvin and mattyvas in the show us your ride thread!
Lastly, there's a lot of us in Syd - you'll find a few of us hanging at Bar Italia on a Thursday night from 8pm, or at Mecca Espresso, king and york st Sydney on a Saturday morning from 10ish. Oh yeah, and we go for rides as well! The next big ride is 2nd August - most rides are well posted on the Oz Monster forum.
