But does it work as a PHONE?

Since that about all I use a cell for is to talk to people.

my keyboard just served me with paternity suit.

I work for a company that gets subcontracted by both AT&T and Sprint. They both suck. Just about every cellphone company sucks. You get better toys at AT&T and I would rather work out of Atlanta/Dallas/Bothell than from Kansas City. Sprint made a huge mistake buying Nextel. 3G tends to be slower, but not considerably. I'll stick to my Blackberry.

i think all the uproar over "missing" c&p is kinda funny considering my blackberry has that capability and i've never found a need to use it in the 8 years i've been carrying one.

I use copy/paste all the time on my Blackberry.  For example, someone emails me a phone # and I want to add it to my address book.

that kind of stuff is covered on the iPhone... it's aware of certain types of info and you just click it and get options like "call" or "add contact".  same with sending links to people.

having owned one for more than a year now, i can say that there have been a few times when i wished it had a regular copy/paste, but not as often as some detractors make it out to be.

My last phone was a blackberry and it's amazing how non-intelligent it is.  So far, I haven't had a problem with the lack of cut/paste, but I'm sure at some point it'll piss me off.

Also, to whoever asked about the calling, I can't compare it to the old iPhone, but in comparison to the BB 8820 and the RAZR I had before that, I can say that the clarity is remarkable.

The biggest negative in my book is the battery life.  You definitely need a car charger for this thing.

what are the various methods of purchasing an iphone?  att store?  apple store?  is there a way to buy online?

I have a 1st gen iphone and my battery life is taking a big hit with all the new apps, I am using my phone more than ever. [bang]  And I hate calling my iPhone a phone, it is so much more than that.

I refer to it as "the toy" and "the pain in my ass".
