Molly & Syreena, the Italian mistresses

« on: October 18, 2014, 05:25:13 PM »

Took off on a late afternoon ride to try to catch a sunset.  Clouds blew in, but still got some interesting shots along the Blue Ridge Parkway.

From "Mile High Overlook' since it is right at a mile high, looking toward the Great Smoky Mountains park:

Some color in a curve.  Yes, I was standing in the middle of the road:

Bleak but interesting shot of the water vapor and sun rays colliding.

Up high, the leaves are gone, but I spot a nice little chicane coming up.

Finally found some color:

Red really pops when the sun gets low:

Color and glow in the sky:

Clouds moving back in:

Little bit of color left:

Why these mountains are called the "BLUE Ridge Mountains:"

Got some video too, gotta find a free editor to cut some of the bits out.  Windows Media on Vista can't handle the MP4s my cam makes.  Nothing fancy, just have a couple funny moments I'd like to share.

A little update from today's ride!

The view opposite yesterdays views:

Dropped into Marshal:

Need to check this diner out sometime:

Molly took a selfie:

Headed into Pisgah National Park:

Check out the sign - This is near the north end of the road nicknamed "The Rattlesnake"

More park:

Color mixed with evergreens:

Even found the Appalachian trail!

The rural counties have very little, maybe some manufacturing and such.  Most are in the big areas like Charlotte and the Triangle.

JM your pics are always a treat, thank you.
We can match the scenery here in the NE, but we sure ain't gonna view it on roads like you have.
