Ebay has jumped the shark

I used to buy all my PC stuff off ebay, but in the last year it seems Ebay is really for sellers that are trying to get stupid prices for things.

I am replacing a small server in my office -- I build my own -- and have a system that takes an LGA1150 CPU.  I want an i5 class CPU for it.

Local retail store (microcenter) has an i5-4590 for $159

Ebay's best comparison?  a seller with used i5-4440 for $175.

That's the cheapest LGA1150 i5 available on ebay.

Pretty much everything I've bought recently I get from Amazon, NewEgg or Microcenter for 10-20% less than Ebay sellers.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Seems about right.  Deals can be had on Ebay but they are rare.  Me? I just lost 40 bucks in shipping with some a-hole that sent out a damaged replacement footpeg for my buddies bike.  Completely unsafe to use but I still got stuck with the shipping.....

Don't care much for ebay.

eBay is dying a low, painful death.

Really depends. Replacement part for my dryer was $7 and up at all other e-tailers, plus $8-$12 for shipping (the part weighs less than a few ounces). Found it brand new from multiple (U.S.) ebay sellers for less than $2 with free shipping. I haven't found K&N filters cheaper anywhere else, either.

Pretty soon you will be able to buy eBay on eBay. Slightly used.

Funny thing about auctions sites.  The winner always pays more than anyone else was willing to.  Surprisingly they are still quite popular.   :-\

Yeah im 0 for 4 on auctions. Even using a snipe program. Recently i have found it a good resource to shop from. Not really any deals on new parts, but an easy way to find the cheapest option.

Ayut, it's getting harder and harder to filter through craigslist but still some good deals.
Ebay doesn't have many good deals but can be the place to find a piece of un-obtainium.

That's just it.  Ebay has so many non auction features .  Buy it now and starting the auction price at an amount above the street price.

I've had some items in my watch list for a year...  they never sell.  How do these sellers make money?

Even the thriftiest of men can succumb to the deadly combination of alcohol and eBay.  [drink]
M620 turned M800 but then back to M620 after the M800 died at 110k, and now to Multi 1000.

You guys must be doing it wrong.

I've been flat out murdering deals off eBay for years. More so recently as I've been buying stuff for the shop.

Hey, if they didn't sell for as much as you wanted you should have put a reserve on them
