I love how the dml was moderated.  Im lurking around the dml trying to get a sense of what is going on there, and apparently there are a lot of trolls running around with new found freedom (none of the old mods to put them in their place) and it seems they are spreading rumors and implying things from what they (the trolls) write.

My question, did the mods of the old forum sign anything when VS took over?  If you guys rather not discuss this then I will take it down but im under the impression that the mods had no legal obligation to the DML since they did not own it, they/you volunteered your time.  As you may know, there is that "no compete" talk going around and i just want to send an internet slap to the trolls while I transition here.

We didn't sign anything.  'No Compete' agreement?!?  There is no such thing for the mods that defected and started the DMF.

Enjoy the new found board!

I believe the new VS admin already shot that one down.

They know the moment that they try to shut this board down, a non mod like myself would instantly copy it.  They can't win, and they know it, so they wont do squat.

And really, what, besides members, is the DMF competing for?

I thought so.  I was keeping up with the "drama" on the DML and it hit me, "Wait, only one guy owned the DML, The mods are/were there out of good will for the community and doing it for free."  With that in mind, it made no sense to say that the Mods were some how legally liable for anything to do with the DML.  Ok, Since im giving up my citizenship at the dml, I might at well shoot down any LIES while there.   Man, i tell you the "Senior/premium member" stamp looks pretty nice.

far be it for me to defend their business model, but that's only half right.  You can get premium lifetime for 40 bucks ,or yearly for 15  Wink  But all you get is less ads, none of the cool club stuff that used to go along with Ti membership.

Lifetime for $40.  Instead of goodies and discounts they offer slightly less torture.

Thats a good thing, one year is PLENTY of time to ween my self of the DML and after the year is over, I have nothing to attach me to the DML in a sentimental way.

Hmmm...lets think about that.  $40, or Firefox with adblock.  That's tough.

Someone needs to educate VS on the difference between negative reinforcement and positive reinforcement, and which of the two works better.  High school level psychology people, it's not complicated.

Stupid Canadians.

that's funny. I didn't pay anything, but my account was tagged as  "Premium" "senior member" account.

Was it just because of my previous titanium/high post count?

My titanium status was long expired though...

I don't know for sure why I'm tagged as "Premium" over there - I was never a Titanium member. I think the "Senior" looks as if it was based on post count. I've wondered if they had some sort of formula for figuring out which members were active posters and awarded them "Premium" accounts for the first year in hopes of keeping the new posts rolling?

Not sure I care though. I was going to give it a chance once everything settled out but have found I just can't stomach it. The site looks exactly the same (ads turned off, Firefox with Adblock Plus) but, in the words of Dorothy Parker, "there's no there there". It's like finishing up in the ICU room after the patient has died but with the ventilator still running. The body's still warm, the chest is still moving, and everything looks the same, but nobody's home.

Same thing here, but I never had the Titanium membership.  My post count was only about 1400 too.  I was tagged as a Premium Senior Member
