You have to admit, it has a fair amount of shine in the pics.

Pictures lie...trust me. Wink

I found a guy who said he'd fix it (I sure ain't self-teaching how to braze a fuel tank).

He would probably call Nate a whipper-snapper.  laughingdp
Brazing tanks is no biggie. Just keep your face away from any opening. Grin

This one has no roof, I'm ahead of the game.  Wink

There is a slight amount of orange peel because I skipped the whole sand and apply a third coat because my give-a-make the beast with two backsometer is pegged at zero. I used a special boat paint made for....well....boats as most of 'em are too big to put in a paint booth.

They make really big paint booths. Wink

Well....the old guy called me and wants me to come look inside the tank. He has it open and says it's bad, he thinks it'l give me trouble down the road. Not sure what to do.

Maybe he can make you one?

Maybe he can make you one?

He didn't seem like a fabricator.

It's a simple shape, I could easily cut the pieces. My welds are insufficient for such an end use.

It's killing my time frame.

Cut the pieces, weld them up, and use Caswell coating. not thinned as much as for a plastic tank.

You can do it.

Alternatively, find someone with a TIG welder to weld them up for you. I'd probably coat it regardless.

So I went and saw the tank today, and the big hole in it. The rust inside wasn't really that bad, just the access behind the baffle would be difficult, and the guy was worried it would give me problems/he couldn't clean it out properly.

I told him I could de-rust it.

One recycling bin and some washing powder....bit o' 'lectricity.

And the rust melts away.... Wink

Welp, back to the Chrysler.

My mom wants a ride in her. She reminded me she's ill, so hurry up.

Great.

My apologies but, I am not the brightest bulb around here, compared to many of you I am like a 10W bulb when most of you are at least 80W ...
Can you please describe how to do something like this and the materials needed? I would appreciate that a lot

You need a tank of water with some washing soda. Not baking soda! Mix a bunch in the water, hang your rusty item in the water.

Hang a separate chunk of metal in there. Take a battery charger, connect the negative clamp to the thing you want less rusty, and the positive one to the sacrificial bit of metal. Plug it in.

Don't...touch the water. It's spicy now.

The rust will come off. It's slow.
