My helper was showing me how to reinstall a front fender-I made him do all the ratcheting. He couldn't see or reach so I put him on my lift table as a giant stool.

He wanted to see how high it would go. The look on his face  laughingdp

It took half an hour to convince him to come down.

I've been dealing with a sick spouse/family/self and finally started getting back out there.

I finished welding on the drivers quarter panel and got it ground down:

Continuing to bounce around....

Put frame on table

Clean it

Load it-that is a long bed pickup, which might serve to show how massive these cars were.

Long as I had the welder out I figured I'd smooth where the rocker meets the quarter panel-I'm trying to get rid of all the seams I can.

Passenger quarter panel hacked off per Nate's dandy suggestion.

Test fit (I need more magnets).

I'm happy with this seam:

Tacked up:

Getting closer. The rear end is cleaned up, so are both fenders and doors and the driver's quarter. This is about it, then I attempt to prime.

+1 Wow!
Remember the Fairlanes with either horizontal or vertical headlights? Well that car beats them both. Such a unique front end.

Nah nah-I did debate the hardtop bit and some shaved handles but that's how these things never get finished. Stock will work.

So last I had heard from the shop was in June. The next time was Wednesday-the last day of September. Miffed I was-are you working on it? Do you want to work on it? Are you still in business? Did you die? make the beast with two backsing nothing.

I got an email asking me to call them-I was told they were at a standstill because they didn't have the other parts they needed, some floor bits and the new frame piece.

The ones that they haven't asked for or entirely verified were make the beast with two backsed up to begin with.

Then they went on to tell me they didn't have room or time to work on it, it's parked outside and the rainy season is coming. Kinda miffed. If you don't want to/can't work on it that's fine-tell me-I'll do something else.

Paula happened to be going past there the next day, so she got saddled with my truck and trailer. While she was at work another friend went and picked up/secured the car, brought the rig back to P's work and she brought it home. I have a fantastic wife-towing that rig 200 miles on no notice was sweet of her.

It's a relief to get it home. I still need to do the floor, the front crossmember, and the gauges. After that it's paint and interior. I suppose there's a falcon in there somewhere too. Here's what the crossmember looks like:

The shop is too cluttered, so the spare room in the barn got turned into a warehouse for parts that are in the way:

Me mother is coming to visit in December. The goal isn't to be finished by then, but able to pick her up from the airport would be ideal.
