My 5 month project
«

Well i have the stuff to do a single side swingarm setup on my 05 620 dark. So that led to a "project mode". I am now putting a turbo on it. Just a small one, low boost. Oil is going to be supplied to the turbo from what would be the oil cooler that the 620 doesnt come with. Doing this because i'm extremely bored and it probably sounds stupid to most. However the turbo is a cheap gt15 internal wastegate, running max 13psi. I'm removing the airbox, machining all the flanges and tubing required. I've only seen online 1 other guy named Bill "turbomonster" do this. Anyone on here try this?

I know of a M750 with sss and turbo and a highly tuned, very powerful turbo 900SS (see Intake Express site). Both in Australia, but dont know of any forum members having done it. Long term members should know.
Really look forward to your build.

Also check out Ducati Bunbury (again in Aus...). They are water-pumpers, but it's all the same thing.
I don't know your background, but 13psi doesn't really count as "low boost" in most circles...
Most people would consider 6-7psi to be low boost. I'd call 13-15psi a medium, with high coming in around 20+.
A 10.5:1 static compression ratio is pretty high for 13psi on pump gas.
What do you plan to control fuel and spark?

And I would worry about the lack of an oil cooler with any forced induction...

13psi is the wastegate max. Need to get a bigger fuel pump and need to do more research on the injectors. Definitely going to be trial and error, and i'm doing the oil cooler conversion. Not definite but i'm going to try it. I cant ride for 5 months anyways so if all else fails, im just going to get some boomtubes and open airbox since i had to get a power commander anyways.

Where are you mounting the turbo?

While I loved my boomtubes, they required a custom map (4+ hours on a dyno) to get the fueling right. Even then, it only made about the same power as a stock set up.
Sounded great, looked awesome, overall, reduced power a bit compared to stock and was about 10-15 hp/tq lower than a similarly equipped bike with full Termi's or Arrows.

I'm thinking its going to be right under where the airbox was. The other option is below the swingarm engine mount. I've pictures of both setups. I dont want it hanging off the side of the engine. To me it looks goofy.

I think putting it under/forward of the airbox is your best option.
If you put it under the swingarm, you'll need a scavenge pump for the oil.
I don't think a powercommander alone is going to cut it for engine management. I think you need a boost-referenced ECU solution to keep it together. The PC has more chance of working properly in a supercharged setup where RPM is directly linked to boost.
The stock injectors should be big enough. IIRC Ducati used the same injectors in all the 2V bikes. Start small at 6-7psi and go from there. If you decide you need more injector, there are a few drop-in options.

Yeah I have read the stock injectors will be fine. I'll have to look into an ECU. Thanks for the info guys! Yeah right under the airbox seems the best.

An oil cooler is your friend. Or maybe 2 of them.

Yeah i ordered the s2r oil cooler, lines, and nipples. Do you guys think I should go engine = oil cooler=turbo in that order or turbo then cooler? I'm going to try 1 cooler first. I can add a secondary if need be. I have a wideband and plenum air temp gauge coming too

Install the flapper valve under the oil filter stud. Use a properly sized socket that has had the leading edge radius ground off as that stud is VERY thin.
I'd go engine, turbo, cooler & then back if it were me
