S2R Suspension Rocker upside down *fixed*

So... the saga so far.  Years ago, layshaft issues in the S2R800, recent "new" to me engine is from an SS800.

S2R is 06, Ebay seller said the SS was an 04.

Penske shock (8983) that was "en-tallened" quite a bit at the shock.  It was tall. +1 Cyclecat sidestand.  Worked dandy.

When re-installing suspension with new engine, had to take out all the "extra" dialed into the Penske.  Couldn't find the kickstand mount bolt, so it stayed on the t-rex rear stand.

Exhaust (which fit fine on the old engine) is a pregnant dog to install, and has no clearance from the swing arm.  Found the kickstand bolt.  Took it off the rear stand to check the kickstand... that leans over way too far  

I don't know how I could have screwed up the suspension linkage, so my theory is that for no apparent reason the swingarm pivot is in a different place?!  WTF?

I checked the part numbers for the engine cases.  I used 2004 for both.  Same part number for both, so that rules out swing arm pivot location.  Do you have the original shock?  If not I can measure mine.

Original shock is gone.

The Penske replaced the original shock with the original engine, and static sag was approximately the same (different spring and all).  Oh yeah, the Penske has adjustment to ride height built in.  So when "en-shortened" it is the same length as a stock shock.

It has gained an estimated 4 inches at the center of the bike.  Even with the adjustment dialed out of the Penske.

I have not sat on it and made motorcycle noises... maybe the shock just needs "settling?"

Four inches    If sitting on the motorcycle making motorcycle noises doesn't work is it possible to put the rocker in backwards?  I have no idea if this is possible.  Maybe Speeddog will chime in.

Ahh... this is someone else's bike, with the suspension installed properly.  From memory (I'm at work now) I have the shock and the linkage thing switched at the swingarm.

I don't know why that makes it super tall, but hopefully fixing that will fix the issue.

Perhaps you've got the rocker installed upside down.

Yep, rocker is upside down.  Not sure how I did that, but at least it's an easy fix.
