To the OP...

check the bulb and connection at the H/L connector.

I had the chance to test more.

Indicators and break lights are fine.

Bottom bulb comes on when pressing the flash/pass trigger.

Main headlamp is off now by default.

Top bulb comes on if I push the top slider to main beam (push it forward) AND hold down the flash/pass trigger.

I think you have a switch issue.

Seems that way. New bulb didn't help, I have a new relay to test but I'll look into switch gear next.

fingerpuk

Actually I'll open up the current switch and make sure it's all clean, a new switch will take until mid September to arrive now as Ducati are on holiday.

fingerpuk

Well the insides of the switch seem fine, everything is as clean as a whistle. Can't see anything wrong, sadly my multimeter got lost in the house move so can't test. I'll fit the relay tomorrow and see what that does.

DarkMonster620

get a $5 in the meantime . . . and install the new relay . . ..

So today I fixed it, the relay had popped out. Pushed it back in, problem solved. :)

At least I now have some spares :)

Where on the Monster is the Relay located? I am having the exact same issue and believe it is the relay as well. I pulled put the Headlight unit and the connectors are fine!

It seems I have to remove the tank to find the Relay?
Any help would be appreciated!
