I have a set of S2R1000 front brake and clutch masters with new levers you can have for free. Like you, my S2R1000 has been around the block and sat for 3 years. I am rebuilding them and swapping to Radial Masters.

I dont think the levers are compatible with your master cylinders though, so if you want to go this route, you would need an 8mm wrench and brake fluid to swap them. If you want to do this, DM me your address and ill ship them out. The gap is normal at the exhaust.

Jobs in NYC are plenty, its more alive than Chicago I think. But I think NYC is much harder to live in. It can be a very lonely city

Aww, thanks.  I'm good on the lever, and the brakes themselves should still be good because they were replaced maybe 4-6 years ago, but I wasn't riding too much back then after the brake replacement, since I was out of the country or working.  The big expense is going to be the tires- I KNOW those NEED to go.  I pumped them up just to be able to roll the bike over the weekend, and yeah, they're bad-they're flat, and I think I mentioned before I know I patched that rear tire once or maybe twice.  I'm hoping I can try to get that oil change done tomorrow, but it looks like it's getting cold and wet again.  Once I replace that brake lever, though, I should be able to ride the bike down the alley just to see if my front fork is still true.  I hit the rear quarterpanel of the SUV when he made the right-hand turn out of the left-hand lane in front of me.  I am realizing how much the frame slider and handlebar slider saved the bike and me.  I wish I had a slider on the front wheel, too.  If the front fork and nothing else seems bent, it's salvageable.  Fun Fact:  I have a spare tank for it that's never been opened.  If I could find a rear seat cowl that matched the color, the bike could look pretty fantastic again, unless you really looked.

But one problem at a time.  The biggest on is to get the brake lever in and do a small ride to see if the bike is wobbling or not staying straight.  No faster than 10MPH, I promise.  :)

And I'd love to live in NYC if I could afford it.  It's so walkable but expensive.  I feel like I'd find more friends there than here.

But I am going to shoot my shot here:

If anyone reading this, anyone at all, has the lead on an IT Project Management or Program Management job, or wants remote IT support (I have my own company that has like two clients, which isn't enough to pay the rent), let me know!!  I'm desperate for work (so are a lot of people right now, but as I said, I'm shooting my shot).  I just need a little stability before the next "fresh hell" hits.

Seriously, I just want a 43-foot steel or aluminum sailboat and kinda sit out the next 4-6 years until everyone figures out what they're doing.  :-\   I'm fine alone so long as I have decent internet, a close gym, and my computers.  I see boats just chilling in some bays in Alaska over winter, and I'm like "I totally could do that so long as I have food and books/computer/my home media collection and my cat and got a dog."  Seems peaceful.

But if not that, I'll take Bangkok.  Either it needs to be totally quiet or totally crazy.  ;D

Sell the new tank?

Will/did the other party's insurance pay for the crash?

Are you sure the oil change is required (at once)?

Are you sure the tires are trash? Could they work a little while?

... just trying to explore option. Not very good options, but...

1.  I am unemployed and ran out of unemployment insurance a while ago.  Despite what they say, the job market here, especially in IT is horrendous, especially if you're in my demographic. Being American, there are no real things to help you if you have no family and run out of money.  The insurance money went to rent/food, survival. It's long gone now.

2.  It hasn't had an oil change in years, and I actually do have oil and a filter from when I was going to do it a few years ago. Considering I'm not working, I've got time to do it now.

3.  Yes, the tires are really worn and aren't holding air.

4.  I need that tank because my tank is warped.  I just don't feel like doing the pulling out of the fuel pump stuff again right now because I spilled gasoline all over the place last time and right now I'm trying not to get too noticed because I've been late on rent for the past few months.  So trying to not rock the boat too much since I'm not in a good situation as it is.  If I didn't have a few people helping me here and there and the occasional client, I'd not even have money for internet.  I prepaid my phone for the year as soon as I lost my job with my last check, because I already saw the job market was terrible- it took me a year to find the last one I had.

It's just bad.  I'm not lying about the boat.  If I can find some sort of work again, I'm just going to save up for a boat and take off.  I've had enough of this, to be frank.  I'd rather take my chances on a liveaboard boat and see if I can fish and freelance to live. I'm already doing that, so may as well at least know I own my home.

I tried to take the nut off today, then found I couldn't. Any ideas?

Something has moved/rotated - probably the brake (brake master cylinder)(which holds the lever). On it's rear side it's held in place, bracket around the bar, by two ordinary screws going through the bracket (which also holds a mirror). Very slightly loosen both and rotate so the big nut becomes accessable. Fasten the two bolts.

Hmm... I'll take a look and see.  Thanks!
