It happens only ~once a month, after my frame change and harness plug out plug back in.

Key in, turn key -> dead.
Wiggle key -> ok and stays like that for the ride

Imobilizer antenna/plug?

If it is the wires to the ignition or the ignition switch , wouldn't it stall sometimes while riding?

When it misbehaves, do the gauge needles sweep, idiot lights on, fuel pump primes, etc?

Or totally dead?

Or somewhere in between?

Can't remember for sure, but maybe partial lights and sweep OR directly to dead.

If wiggling the key fixes it, I'd suspect that the ignition switch itself is giving up, or is just really dirty inside.
They can be disassembled.
And a different one can have new plates put in it to match your existing key.

I'd check both plugs associated with the ignition switch; on the switch pigtail and on the wiring harness.
Sounds like a flaky connection there, I've seen a couple cases of the individual spade/socket components losing their grip on the shell.

Wouldn't these issues cause it to stall while riding? Haven't so far... Just lucky? Or is there a safety feature keeping it running even if the connection is broken?

I think you've been lucky.
Perhaps the constant wiggling of the key as the bike goes down the road is enough!  [laugh]

No safety feature that I'm aware of to keep it going.

Happened today - dead/black/quiet when I turned the key - wiggle a little and it's back on.

I'll check the connectors and clean the ignition switch 'soon'.
