Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

I'm going to reserve my judgement for if and when the Facts come out on this one... but I don't think I'm going to like it either way.

Not a lot of details, so far, other than the driver was 23 and was driving a company vehicle.

No charges have been filed, as of yet.

My condolences to all the families of the victims.

The driver has been charged with 7 counts of negligent homicide.  The story didn't give any other details.

Regardless of the outcome, fault...whatever...it just sucks.

The kid/guy was arraigned in court in MA just now, and has been extradited to NH to face 7 counts of negligent homicide.

Blackout

As much mountain riding that my group does this is my biggest fear, coming around a corner with a truck in the lane. No escape. RIP riders. :'(

Here, involvement in a fatal accident automatically sends you to court with a wreckless manslaughter (spelling?) regardless of how guilty you appear to be. Same in N.H.?

Definition of each for NH:
https://www.drivinglaws.org/resources/new-hampshire-negligent-vehicular-homicide-laws-and-penalties.html

He's currently charged with 7 counts of Negligent Homicide.

If he was DUI it's a Class A felony, conviction is up to 15 years in prison, up to $4k fine.
Not DUI, Class B felony, up to 7 years in prison, up to $4k fine.

Manslaughter is a higher level offense, up to 30 years in prison.

I've no idea how they figure sentencing on multiple convictions.
I suspect he will effectively serve a lifetime sentence.

Also, I wager that Westfield Transport will be burned to the ground, for all intents and purposes.
I doubt they had sufficient liability insurance to cover this, and I suspect that coverage is excluded for negligent acts.
They may well face criminal prosecution as well, in light of his prior DWI offenses.
Certainly they'll be buried by civil suits.

I'm puzzled by his release from the accident scene, that makes zero sense to me.

I suspect there will be several more circles of hell opening for all persons associated with him.

Ok - homicide sounds more like what we have. Previously it was up to the police to prosecute and they often didn't.
